So you are browsing Amazon and come across several inexpensive amplifiers and two in particular catch your eyes...one is the "2000 watt" Lanzar HTG-257 with it's sub $70 price and the other is a cool looking Pyramid PB-449x "1000 watt" amplifier. How can they make these amps so cheap you think?

Better question is, how much wattage do these amps actually put out? I had this same though and just for you guys, bought BOTH of these amps just to test for you guys. "The truth will set you free!"

Lanzar HTG-257 - rated 500x2 (RMS) at 4 ohms and 1000W (RMS) at 4 ohms bridged, 2000W "max" at unspecified ohm load

Pyramid PB-449x - rated 125x2 (RMS) at 4 ohms and 1000W "max" at unspecified ohm load

Please share the video with all of your friends in Car Audio

You know its only a matter of time before someone comes in here and claims it's good for the money.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

The Lanzar feels as light at a Frisbee, the Pyramid feels much more substantial...until you put wires in the terminal strips. They all feel really loose. I was shocked both amps actually worked. The Lanzar smelled like it already had some electrical issues, but both powered up and survived the tests!

I've told you before the Amp Dyno is by far my favorite purchase of test equipment, maybe even my favorite electronics purchase EVER! Since I was 12 years old reading Crutchfield and Stereo Review (before CSR and CA&E), I've always been intrigued by amps and how much wattage they can put out. I know this joker is expensive, but anyone who is serious can afford the AMM-1 and a few of the braking resistors off eBay.
