Broke_Audio_Addict Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 One last thing, saying its good for the money is acknowledging that you know it's a piece of shit but it's ok because it's cheap. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
yurvalentine Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Well I can say this- I have 2 Walmart kicker comp S 10s in Walmart prefab boxes on a rockville rxd-m3. A set of 49.99 rockville components up front and a set of 39.99 rockville 4x6 in the back. Doors are on a 4 channel phoenix gold. Is it competition worthy? He'll no. Not even close. Does it sound good for daily listening and give me absolutely 0 problems? Yes it does. Which was the intent of this system. Sound decent on a budget. Buy what you want then? Everyone here is right though, you get what you pay for. No exceptions. If you want a budget amp go for it, buy a hifonics or something. But most here have owned and killed some of those, so when they say buy quality that is coming from experience.
reedal Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 I'll say something that I haven't seen in this one yet. Instead of buying a cheap amp that everyone else is arguing about whether it does rated or or how long it will last, buy an amp that's a known reliable brand, that doesn't have as much output but meets your current budget. Or buy used. But this turned into a pissing match of what budget brand is better SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
mcfalcon Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 No I'm out of here also. This is the reason I left the forums for awhile anyways. I don't believe you have to spend 7k to have 2 10s or 12s sound good. I can spend 1k to 2k and have a great system with enough left over to buy a decent vehicle lol. I'm not saying quality isn't better. I'm just saying for those who can't afford it there are options. Which this forum doesn't understand. Still learning but have started gathering.
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Not everyone here has crazy expensive builds, mine is going to be under $2k and I have helix amps and ssa subs. Not everything quality is crazy expensive but buying junk is a waste of money and will cost you more in the long run when you have to replace it. My build cost also includes everything from wiring, to deadener, and a custom enclosure as well. You don't have to go broke to get the good stuff, you just might have to save a little longer. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

mcfalcon Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Just to clarify. I'm not saying Broke is wrong. I respect his opinion and seen him give lots of valuable information. On theses forums. He is correct quality is better. But there are options that are not top of the line that aren't junk. Still learning but have started gathering.

hispls Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 The opti's are known to be legit amps and have been proven to do rated or damn close to it. How about that garbage you posted? That opti is only rated 2k by the way. Lanzar Opti has been their "good" line and certainly they've had some worthwhile offerings in the past, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that all of the Opti amps are worth running. I'd be very nervous about a 1000X2 Lanzar amp. Their best stuff happened in the 90's and the amps that were most impressive was the ones that shared the boards with the old Soundstream XXX lineup, though even those seem to really only do well on 18V electrical. Why are all you guys recommending he spend his money on fucking garbage? You might as well tell him to buy a shark 3500. It's good for the money right? Some people have to stick to there budget. I'm one of those people. I can only spend so much. Does that mean I shouldn't be able to have anything but stock stereo? Please tell me why the rockville that I mentioned is garbage? If you can't afford a RELIABLE 2500w amp, it's probable you can't afford the electrical upgrades to run it in the first place. Even then, as has been said, you can pay now or pay later... or gamble and perhaps get lucky or perhaps get burned. Personally I don't go to the casino if I can't afford to throw my money away, and I'd highly recommend buying a good quality amp in a size that you can afford. The difference between 1500W and 2500W is not really dramatic and the peace of mind knowing what you get will perform well, be reliable, and hold resale value is worth sacrificing a little output IMO.
