n8ball2013 Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 The only one I can agree wth is the crescendo stuff. I'd take either of the other three and not hesitate. It doesn't mean the crescendo amps are garbage it's just my preference. And I'd rather support rusty Jacob or Andrew any day because I know if I have a problem I'm going to get stellar service. scooter99 Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Just my $.02. Having owned Crescendo equipment, I think they make good gear. HOWEVER, the lack of customer service and that nervous feeling of do I push it and risk having to deal with their customer service to get something fixed was enough for me to jump ship. DC Audio - Overpriced is a pretty objective term. I'd almost say that's a stretch. They're on the higher side of the price points yes. But if you've ever met Rusty, or ever run one of his amps, or subs for that matter, then you know you're getting the top upmost quality in gear. You know you're going to be able to get on the phone and talk with him, Will, or anyone at DC when you dial the number. They're great people and have great customer service, which is a very great thing to have in this industry. You can ask them questions and they'll give you a straight up answer. Ampere Audio - Unproven - by whome? They're one of the hotter companies out there right now and between Andrew and Taylor they're making great strides towards high quality equipment, low prices, and their customer service is also top notch. I could text Andrew Bailey right now and get an answer within minutes. This company is growing like wild fire and part of that reason is the price points, as well as their customer service which is all backed to a top quality product. These guys are who I jumped from Crescendo to. Not only because of their customer service, but because of their price points. TO me it was a tie between DC Audio and Ampere Audio, with customer service, and quality in products. It was the price points that were the difference for me. I did not have the budget for DC Amps. Actually I have DC Subs (XL15's) that I was planning using. These are two top quality companies and you could not go wrong with either. I've never been much of a sundown fan, I have no particular reason for this, it's just not what I've liked. But I will say this. I'm on Facebook classifieds, I look at classifieds here, I look at classifieds in a lot of other places. Sundown, is BY FAR the most product I've seen in those classifieds. Why is that? I don't have an answer but it would make me think twice before buying them. Anyway, those are just my $.02. I think it comes down to what you want. if you're on a budget and need good customer service as a piece of mind, then Ampere Audio is the way to go. If you're not worried about the budget and still need good customer service, then I'd steer towards DC Audio. If you don't care about customer service and are on a budget then go with Crescendo. If you are on a budget and don't care about if it's new or used and don't care about warranties, then go to the classifieds and buy Sundown. At the end of the day it's your choice, your money, noone else's. Because really all you're going to get here, is a bunch of opinions and usually they all contradict each other. That's all I have. audiolamb6 Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 i agree with scott ive owned the dc 2k and am running the ampere 2k right now both are great amps i would have gone with sundown if ampere had not popped
tboorn Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 agreed with all the posts above. DC and Ampere are awesome amp makers, sundown is right up there with them i just dont know personally, but i have friends running them and they seems to be tanks. I have no information for Crescendo, i know they make quality amps, one of the few who actually lets you wire to .5 nominal even though the ratings are at 1ohm because they know rise is a real thing and dont void warranty because of it, but ive recently heard less than stellar reviews of their customer service and it seems to be re-occurring. sundownz Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Sundown, is BY FAR the most product I've seen in those classifieds. Why is that? I don't have an answer but it would make me think twice before buying them. ----- Probably because there are more of them out there Sure, I'm still on the forums like I used to be... but we aren't a small "forum based" company anymore. We are putting out the same # of amps per month than we used to do per year a few years ago. Given the volume & popularity on forums & social media it shouldn't be a surprise there is a healthy used market. - Jacob Fuller - Owner, Sundown Audio - Sundown Audio on FACEBOOK - Please DO NOT PM ME -- use my email address -- [email protected]
sundownz Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 4.sundown audio scv-2000d -quality is shotty --------- That is an interesting statement... the SCV line is the best line we've ever made in terms of reliability.
