Terukio Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 Hey guys, new here. Just finished installing new wiring to my doors for my component and coaxial speakers from my 400.4 kicker amp. With the new speakers having a built in crossovers for the mids and highs, im seriously lacking my lows and bass. I will be installing a 400.1 sub amp with 2 12" rockford fosgate subs. My question is should i get at least an upgraded battery for my setup? Im still on my stock battery for my 2013 dodge durango crew. I was looking at the xspower d3400 as someone toldmme i should have at least if not more cranking amps than my system has amp wise. Is this over kill or not enough? Havent measured if it will fit yet but keep in mind this will be my cars main battery as i will not have an auxillary battery. Any comments, critiques, questions, and advice would be awesome!
mcfalcon Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 You would be fine but I would at least reccomended an agm batt. Edit: although having the D3400 would be great I think it is a bit much. Still learning but have started gathering.
everybodyknowme Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 If you can afford an XS D3400 that would be the best option but if not look for any agm batt such as a optima yellowtop, Exide agm, etc. These will be a lot cheaper
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 What amp and subs are we talking about exactly? If it's just 400 watts I wouldn't change anything. Cold cranking amps have nothing to do with sizing a battery for your system. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
MrSkippyJ Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 I agree with Broke, if you are running 800 watts, I wouldn't do anything. F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
Smoove Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 I agree with Broke, if you are running 800 watts, I wouldn't do anything. All my vehicles, stereo or not have the biggest AGM I can fit under the hood and have a 3-4yr warranty. OP, when the stock battery dies, I say put in the D3400. 2 Team Fi 15's v1 2 DD M5's 970amps of Alt 6th order blowthroughThe truck Blowthrough build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155555-smooves-1996-chevy-ext-cab-c1500-slow-build/The 350z build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/170694-smooves-2003-nissan-350z/ My FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smooves-Car-Audio-and-performance/719746144805343 Team Fi Audio http://www.ficaraudio.com/
MrSkippyJ Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 I should have put that as well, when it dies replace it with something good. No need to do that though until it dies, IMO anyway. SCATHED Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 AGM batteries at SAMs club. Or AGM batteries at rural King, not sure what brand they are but they are less expensive and still have a good warranty
Terukio Posted December 5, 2015 Author Report Posted December 5, 2015 Sounds good. Il replace the stock when it dies with the best I can fit. Thanks all!
fordpride Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 I have a 12 ram and the stock battery wouldn't hold a rf 500.1 and 300.4. It load tested good. Just to add when you do replace the battery you'll need a d3400r since dodge like to do things bass actwards
