Awaiting_Equinox Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 I just bought a mechman 370a and I want to run it strictly on the car audio portion of my Tahoe, I want to leave the stock 140alt alone and let that power the truck, and I want my 370a to power only the car audio. how do I go about connecting it? I know I need a bracket, but im confused on how to connect it. I know how to install it, but not how to wire it. bass and bewbs.. and beer

DubNDodge Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 What is your reasoning behind isolating the original alt? You might as well run them together. SnowDrifter Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 Standalone regulator for the alt, just don't wire anything from the positive stud to anything related to the stock vehicle. Positive wire should go from the alt right to the back where your batteries and amps are. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Awaiting_Equinox Posted February 17, 2016 Author Report Posted February 17, 2016 my Tahoe is a 2000 but its in the style of the 1st gen. its the 5.7 vortec. I want to run them separately because I don't know how to run them together and idk if that will cause problems with the stock alt since they have completely different amps. still learning that's why im asking. yes I asked on another website but I want second opinions. No I wont call mechman to ask for help. bass and bewbs.. and beer
CleanSierra Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 That's what Mechman is there for dude, to help you with questions/concerns about your install and provide you support as a customer. Run them together, the different amperage won't affect anything negatively. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
