Do the flares make that much diffrence?

Is there some applications that favor one over the other?

Is it worth flareing some PVC pipe?

I know there is a calculator for aero ports on the website would that work for PVC (assuming same diameter)?

(System spec if it matters) 2 vcw124 on a nvx 1200.1 the box will be built to the suggested size and tuneing for said subs (unless anyone would like to make a better suggestion)

flares make the port more efficient and if you are not giving enough port area Flares will help with port noise.

exactly.... is it necessary in all situations... probably not but if you can afford to get some PSP ports then you'll be fine

Does the face of the flare to the end of the taper count when measuring port length with aero's?

Or is it strictly the tube length that counts?

PSP4-BKHT - 4" x 17" unit that includes 1 outside flare with mounting holes,

1 inside flare, 2 connecting rings, and 1 plastic tube. 18" overall length with only 17" usable because of the flares on both ends.

1) Yes, more so if the port is going to handle high port airspeeds.

2) Aeros are recommended in sound quality applications.

3) Your call, I would just get flares for the pipe.

4) Torres calculator will work fine for non flared aero ports as long as you use only a single pipe.

i know its been a while but care to explain this as you can see here i plan on useing 2 3 inch pipes

why will that only work for 1 pipe wouldn't you just divide it by number of ports

No, you can't just divide it by the number of ports. That's not how box tuning works. One 3" port 11" long, for example, will not tune you the same as two 3" ports 5.5" long. When you double port area you have increase port length as well to keep tuning the same.

If you are only going to use two 3" port for a pair of 12" subs on 1200 watts you might as well just leave the box sealed. With that little of port area, the performance is going to be pretty poor.
