Fun, Reliable Daily $12-15K Range

Recommended Posts

Half of the passenger side of that truck doesn't match the other half. It was either damaged in the front or back, the line is between the doors. Body shop didn't blend it nor match it very well.

Looks clean as far as what's shown in the pics--other than the discount body work and the cheapest side steps known to man. Always makes me wonder what else they were cheap with when I see stuff like that.

Static drops are my bag.

a 6.0 isn't worth buying unless it's already broken and you have a shop to work on it yourself. I've had 2 so far, and I'll probably end up with quite a few more.

1994-2003.5, and 2011+ is the only powerstrokes you want to look at if you don't have a shop to work on them yourself.

stay the fuck away from Duramax trucks unless you have a shop to work on them in.

Pre-EGR Dodge Cummins. Which is up to 04.5. You're fine with, in all honesty, up to a 2007, since it's a different EGR system...but stay away from the 6.7. Compared to the 5.9, it's a fuel guzzling shit box that costs a LOT more to repair.

But you really don't need a diesel. Find you a trailer, then figure all your weights up(car, spare tires, tools, fuel, cooper's dog food, the latino escort you take with you). You can get set up in a nice half ton for a LOT cheaper, and it'll ride nicer, be a lot more fun to daily drive.

But if you want a 3/4 ton or bigger, and don't want to pay diesel maintenance...like $200 oil changes, and can't forget they weigh around a 1000lbs...compared to a 5-600lb gas motor. Look at the V10 fords, and the 6.0 Chevy 1/2500HD's with 4L80e's. You can get into them for really cheap anymore. V10's are damn near bullet proof, and cheap to work on. The 3v headed ones don't have cam phasers and shit, is the big thing. The rollback I work out of with my buddy has one, we hauled a CCLB 6.0 PowerStroke on 37's with it 200 miles and got 8.5 mpg.

The 1/2500HD Chevy/GMC's with the 6.0 LQ motors are dime a dozen. Have 4L80e's, almost always 3.73 gears with limited slip, and are dirt cheap. LSx based motor.

Curious why you don't like duramax motors? My dad is a truck driver and the izusu motors aren't the worst. Cumins is the new big dog thanks to emissions laws putting an end to CAT at least here in CA.

The Diesel engines ford used made by international were such garbage. I think ford makes their own engines now, and those are suppose to be titts. Idk what year they started using their own engines though

They are. The wife had a 2012 f250 with the 6.7. I'm a Chevy guy all the way but I really liked the truck. The motor was great. Only good motor in my opinion from ford

ever worked on one?

that's why.

They aren't bad in stock form, actually pretty great. Stock LMM trucks run great and get pretty kickass mileage with a load behind them. I'd rather work on a 6.0 PSD anyday of the week over an Isuzu motor. And to top it off, the Allison is a piece of garbage and a half imo.

That's because it's not a full allison. There's enough allison parts in it to be called an allison.

exactly. My international 4900 dump truck I drive at work has a real Allison in it...and it's a bad mother fucker.

how the fuck are 7.3's so cheap up there

edit, noticed it's oregon not cali. rusted to fuck pieces of shit not even worth for scrap at that point.

rust isnt really much of an issue for newer trucks up here although the mold and moss is a pain in the ass. God forbid you have a leak or something. Talk about pulling out hair trying to find it. Im so done with the rain as soon as my wife is done with school its on to a warmer climate.
