i was going to say 15.2 is not really anything to be concerned about but your meter looks like its getting close to 16vdc.... when the alt is working hard its pretty normal for it to drag the engine down 200-400rpm but as you said the higher output alt does not do this and that is because there is more power on tap and it does not have to work as hard.... all I can think is there must be a bottle neck somewhere in the charging system.... take a DMM and probe it everywhere you can and find where it gets the largest voltage drop.... you might also have a weak cell in a battery causing it to drain faster and it wants to charge more and the alt is over driving?

with a smaller rms system you should have no problems with that large of an alt and the wiring you have installed

check what your resting voltage is after it sits for 12+ hours

There is definitley a bottleneck at the RF one to two 0/1 splitter as it enters the cab, something i have to correct for sure.

Thanks for the help MCF, i will poke around with the fluke to see if i can find a cause.

It was sitting at 12.8 when i got in it this morning, about 10 hours after it had been running last.

eta- i forgot to mention i was idling at 1.8-2k when i shot that video

What i'd start with, is checking the resistance of all the connections with a quality ohm meter. just probe on both sides of each connection and check for anything out of the norm.

The internal regulator may have something weird going on.

This will look quite nice in place of the 50.4 B) should make the EQ'd SA-6.5CX's sing nicely (when i get them installed and get an EQ that is)

Test fit some 2 guage on the inputs and it fit's nicely minus 10-20 stands that wouldn't co-operate.

like i mentioned before, and thats what confusing me is that rock and alt make it bounce between 13.7 and 15.2

Heavy beats make it start to spike around 75-85% volume

i will e-mail mechman a link to this thread see if they can help.

kinda guessing i might but i haven't protected the 2k, it must be quite brief.

The light dimming being worse after the work i did is also disapointing to be honest

Is your trucks alt internally regulated?

Not sure to be honest, there is one connection from the main harness that fed back into to another single connection on the old alt. i did need to make and it has been tied back.

Told it was done internally now, guess thats what you are talking about?
