Looks tits. I saw you post a vid of "balancing" stuff. Why would anyone care if the bats aren't dead on? Makes no sense to me. Anyway, looks rad dude.

In short it could be very dangerous to not do so

For example I have 16 3.2v batteries in my setup. Highest voltage they can safely handle is 3.6 per cell

Before balancing my voltage was terrible. Lights would dim, voltage would drop dramatically on every bass note (mind you with only 3500 watts and 360 ah of lithium) and it even affected the car driving

Turns out two of the cells were charging to 4+ volts, 6 were around 3.4, and the remaining 6 were in the dirt at 3.1.

In essence I only had two batteries of capacity until they dropped to 3.4 in which case I now had ten and all 16 only when the voltage dropped to 12.4

I got some passive balancing circuits which holds the batteries at 3.5 each (14v nominal) and I've never seen it drop below 13, even with my now 8000 watts (2 ampere 3800s @ 0.35) and a stock 180 amp alt

Balancing is absolutely necessary

^^and to add to that if he had continued to run those without balancing the low voltage cells would die prematurely. Performance and longevity are optimized with balancing.

Ih8PunkRok- do you have a link to those balancing circuits?

I bought them from a company called ev power in Australia

Cheap little boards with a large resistor in them. Work beautifully

Well damn! I just assumed with the high current capability balancing circuits would be outrageously expensive. That's not bad, thank you for the link.

I thought that as well but if you think about how the electricity flows the amperage that goes to your amps doesn't actually pass through the balancers. It goes around them

I could be wrong about that but it makes sense in my head. The internal battery has less resistance than the balancer so the electricity tends to follow that path under load rather than the shorter circuit that has much more resistance

I love Jeeps, but I'd be scared as hell to tow that thing with a WJ. I really hope that trailer has brakes on it.

wasn't a good idea towing that thing with that wj on that trailer...

those 3500lb axles were screaming for dear life. that explorer has to weigh atleast 6,000lbs if not more...

oh whale. not my rig I can't criticize.
