^Could be worse, I've got a buddy who just has his speakers stuck to the dash with double sided tape, It's almost like if the world is suffering to a plague of laziness. :(

Oh well, it makes the guys that do take the time to do things right look that much more better in the end.

who is going to want to do new build projects to show there work when all you see is people bashing other peoples installs seem lately all people can do is talk $hit about other peoples installs or equipment every one has different skill levels and different budgets.this is a general statement not directed to any one person. what was the depth of those mids logan cause they should if fit unless they were like 4" deep.you have to use a spacer at least 3/4" and maybe cut a little metal.

I'll post my stuff for the haters. I'm ready to defend it if need be.

If you want to "show off" what you've done, just make sure it's up to PAR, or-Post it as a "This is my x# build, I'm no pro..what do you guys think of it, good/bad" and make sure you don't sound like you know everything....humility is a RARE thing these days ESPECIALLY among folks with the least experience.....and if that last sentence makes you feel like I'm "calling you out" I prolly am, and rightfully so.

dont let the neg $hit get you down just plan out your next install a little better good installs take time perfect installs take even longer. if you think its going to take 4 hrs to do a install tell the customer its going to take 6 shit always comes up leave yourself some oh $hit time to figure things out.

Some good advice right there^^.

Every body wants the "love" for their work these days but is not willing to make the effort to make it WORTHY of praise.

If I ran at a basketball hoop with a b-ball...not even dribbling, and jumped like 2" up, threw the ball another 1 foot straight up, and turned around like "aint I the next NBA superstar yall?!!!" I'm sure you would all piss ur pants laughing. You can't really come out with a mediocre (or less) install and be surprised when folks want to pick it apart in a negative way.

Go count how many times some arm-chair quarterback gave Steve advice on the Hoopty thread.

There will always be those guys out there.

Just bring your A game, don't post it until it IS worthy, or post it as an "how can I improve this".

Man you guys arnt helping much. Ive got the same issues with my new door panels They will clear if i space them off the door but then they will push the panel off of the door. The door panels have little grooves in em. I was thinking about trying to find some pvc filler or something and just filling the holes and smoothing it out. Then doing what loganberry did that way I can show off my nifty billet grills. Is there a better way to do this?

There a couple ways to deal with it:

1: Make a "trim ring" out of wood/mdf with an inner diam. of the mid you want mount OVER the sock grill, but make it in tha shape of the outer perimiter of the grill or a tad BIGGER but the same shape.

Once you have that teardrop/oblong shaped ring, you can router/sand the edges for a clean/smooth look and then rhino-line/bedline spray em for texture, or just primer and paint em for a glossy look. If you go with the textured look you can paint that to the interior color for a more oem look. Just screw/glue that trim ring to the door panel and/or add some mdf behind the panel for the screws to grab too. Make sure you dremmel/cut the oem grill outta the way or remove it alltogether.

2: Glass the panel. Hit up the awsome display of this done by 00sdime, GP2K2, Steve on the Hoopty or Civic, or just PM someone who is good with glass and/ has done that kind of work and pump them for info/tech supprt.

3: KICK PODS/PANELS. Tonns of tutorials all over.

i am so not glassing any thing any more. Pluss after i shaved the map pocket the door panel is to flimsy when off the door so im not really wanting to glass the panel mounted to the door. Im to messy. I might try and make some sort of plate or something ahh hell i dont know. I really liked my idea of filling it then cutting a hole lol maybe ill cutt the speaker grill out then add a plate that can house 2 6 1/2s im going to sand the door smooth and paint it aswell heres the new door im working with im going to take the charcoal top off of the stock panels and put them on the bottom portion after i paint them

hey man the forum can be rough and this is the "weakest link" in the install. personally i dont mind how it looks only how it sounds and if he made the decision and is happy with the install than :good: to you ;)

as a temp thing- maybe try and patch the old speaker grill holes? i thought it looked fine till in noticed the old grill.

Main thing is, is the person that the install was done for happy? If they're happy and didn't ask for an outrageous overhaul of the door panel then I think you're good.
