Eskii
Here's the deal. I have a TJ jeep and i wanna put one powerful 18 in the back (or 2 perhaps). Anyway, i've been looking at getting a BTL. But my question is, would a DD9518 put out more than the BTL, when loaded to max RMS wattage. Looking at bout 2500W for BTL, unsure of how much for DD... I really wanna pull 150 in Super Street NW, Street max or Street C (these are Australian classes), but still be able to use it as a daily sub. Also, and other suggestions for sub choice would be great!! audiofanaticz
a dd 9518 will take crap loads of power, so will a Fi Btl. Your main and hard decision is how bad do you want a burp system vs daily. A btl will take a good 3000+ watts rms of "clean" unclipped power daily. The DD will do about the same if not more. The btls specs say to tune low, in the low 30 hertz range (more for street beating) a dd reccomends 40 hertz. Of coarse you can tune whichever sub to which ever frequancy you want, but I think in a all out spl stand point, I think the DD will get a bit louder

Eskii
anyone know how much and had experience. Looking at powering a BTL off 2.5kw. Could a DD take up to 4kw? YEs the dd will take 4000 watts rms you wouldnt want to run it for a long time on that much power but yes it would take it I have given Audioque HDC3s 1 15 4000 watts rms daily and it took it fine and a 9518 has alot better cooling also

Boon
I ran a 9515 off close to 4kw for about 20 mins before it started to get a little bit smelly. Don't know if I would do it daily at 4kw but 3kw with a bit more on tap would be fine. If you build the box right (read: smallish) the DD will take the power. Just don't clip it but that applies to any high power application... also I saw 2kw (per sub) kill 2 9515's with a single burp at about 25hz, they don't like playing super low. Charger
Ran my 9915 off 5000wrms on music and it loved it. Really shone. If you go for the latest series 9500 series woofer it should have no drama handling serious power. The benifit I can see with the DD gear is it is actually available in Australia. The BTL would be rather difficult to get ahold of. Your Patrol could be a good SSNW car, is it a Shorty or LWB?
