A little north of my budget! :P

IF I upgrade, it won't be until after tax return time! Probably end up with Hifonics amps that will bridge into 4 ohms. 1x 1200 watt amp per side, and a 4 channel amp for mids/tweets.

Is Class D significantly more efficient that A/B???

class d almost always has a higher effeciency than an a/b, but now theres like hybrid classes and digital amps, something like alpine pdx's are crazy effecient.

idkwhat your pricerange is, but i gotta post my amp of choice up here, 1200rms at 4ohms http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12249_JBL+GTO14001.html and jsut shy of 400 bux apiece

You could strap two Sundown 1500's on that 2 ohm load.

If you build it, db's will come...

I am thinking 2x Crunch GP2500D, they are supposed to be ~1250 watts RMS.

I need to learn more about how to rate efficiency and look at other comparable amps to this one, but you guys know I am a Hifonics addict.

Dude I would not go with GP I have a multiple 1st place vehicle and was running GP2350 on a single sub and sucked. As far a what amp to go with check out Soundstream's new TRX amps. I am sponsored by Soundstream and have a complete Soundstream vehicle, but also check out US Amps, Cactus sound, TREO, or even HiFOnics (and yes I know HiFonics is the same company as Crunch, but HiFonics makes a higher quality amp). Remember the higher the ohms the less the distortion, 4 ohm better than 2 ohm. That is the biggest advantage to two seperate amps or one single amp.

i think ease of install would be the biggest factor...also once installed, the ease of set-up would also come into play. Gain matching multiple sub amps can be a pain (unless its RF T-series blah blah blah :D :D).

anyway you get what im tryin to say im sure :)

I put a big vote for one amp.

Why fight the probblems that come along with multi-amp applications.

If you can get an amp big enough and the rite ohm load to it, you will thank us later. Trust Me! ;)

Running two seperate amps will help with your impedence rise. If you wire all the subs together and run them off of one amp your rise is going to be greater than if you wired half of the subs up to one amp and half up to the other.

For example, I have 2 Nightshade 12's off of a Crunch GP Pro 3000D and the subs are dual 1's. I have each coil on the subs series and then the subs are wired parallel at the amp. The amp reads 1.2 ohms at the inputs. When I figure in the impedence rise after dividing the amps voltage by the amps current I get 3.88 ohms. This means that when I am playing a test tone or music my amp is only putting out power at almost 4 ohms. So, I am only getting 1900 watts to the subs instead of 3000. I am going to get two Sundown SAZ1500D's and wire each sub at .5 ohms which would be the coils in parallel. So that when I get my box rise in the amps will more than likely be playing at 1.5-2 ohms if they carry the same trend as the subs wired to one amp.

Do you see what I'm saying about spreading the rise out between two amps? You do that so each amp has a rise, but it's not as great as it would be if you were wired to a single amp.

I'd actually prefer to run two seperate amps for the subs, like I am now, just more powerful, without having to add more electrical support.

If anything I will probably end up moving back to the Hifonics line from Crunch.
