P4killer_
So i been bumpin my lil sealed 12 setup for a week or two, and ive gotten used to it and hows it sounds etc etc... today is the first kinda hot day since i redid things, and the music playing and im like "wow, its a bit louder than usual" i know spl measurements are sensitive and alot of things obvi including temp can effect your score. I was just wondering if there was a consensus or rule regarding ambient temp inside the cabin vs SPL levels? thanks, P4Killer Quote Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s

1030tooled
If the subs have a rubber type surround, temp will affect performance. This is why you see speakers at concerts with woven cloth type surrounds. Did you have the subs at winter? Rubber surrounds suck in the cold, but awsome in the hot Quote 93' Ford Aerostar Alpine head unit 4-5.25 MB Quarts 20-10" pyramids super Pro 1 Lanzar amp

All summer my subs hit noticably louder/deeper. When the outside temp is anywhere from 75-90 degrees and I even notice a difference when between 75-80 and 85 + . Im no expert at all Im just guessing its because heat makes anything move more and easier. I have already noticed a little difference now that fall is hitting us, Days aren't even breaking 70 anymore and nights are down into the 50's. I guess long story short, Yea i notice what you are noticing too. There is definatley a difference. chewie
hmm i wonder if it would gain anything to have the ac on or the heat on during a comp Quote 91 dodge colt gt.. 4 custom t600 15s audioque 3500d.1 tuned to 25 hz... stay tuned. blazer stroker 15 brutus bxi2006d terrible voltage drop 145.4@38HZ... P4killer_
I wish i had a TL to record the diffrence, but yea rubber surrounds for me it would be funny if you saw someone in the db drag lanes with like a space heater blowing in there car from an outlet, between runs, like how people charge their bats.. like dude i gotta get it hot in there , loosen things up to get my 160 lol ok im done:p P4Killer Quote Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s
jvillefinest
i agree with heat and rubber maybe being louder. but wouldnt the actual air in the cabin being cold be better because its less dense so therefor easier to move?? Jared420
hmm i wonder if it would gain anything to have the ac on or the heat on during a comp Im sure the heat might help a little bit depending on where the subs are located and if the heat blows on them. I do notice in the winter if my heats cranked for a while and its nice and warm in the cabin, My subs are in the cabin because i have a truck BTW they hit a little better, nothing really beats a hot summer day though Quote 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Boon
A lot of stuff is affected by temperature... stiffness of suspension, electrical conductivity (hence efficiency), output of your battery, power compression... will all make a difference.
