Beware of Fram Filters!!

honestly my explorer has had nothing but fram filters on it the whole time we have had it...my wife was the first owner it was her first car.

Our Explorer is now at 337,XXX with no issues whatsoever other then a trans issue thats ovbiously not related to a oil filter. So imo if they fail...over 300k miles in a vehicle that still doubles as our backup car wen my jetta with the expensive stuff fails is fine with me.

I'm not saying they won't last, or won't do what they are supposed to. But in most cases, they aren't the filter for the job. I haven't personally seen anything damaged caused by a fram filter. I'm just not the person that's going to buy one. ha ha. I'm glad you have had good luck with them. But, next time think about something more quality with something running on that many miles. That's awesome that thing is still ticking! Can't argue about 337,xxx miles!

damn! thats alot of miles on that thing. there are sometimes those couple vehicles that make it beyond theyre exspectency(sp) with no hitch's at all. id love to get a vehicle and have it be a miracle vehicle. all the money id save!

Amen! I have a 1998 Nissan Frontier with 409k on it and all I have used is Fram filters. I change the oil every 3,333 miles. But after that read, I believe I am going to switch back to AC DELCO or over to Mobil-1.

I never use Fram. Once i saw it at my Local Wally-Mart, I knew at that very moment that got to be cheap and not good..

I personally do not use fram, but my father use to use them untill his jeep cherokee with 4.0l straight six oil pressure guage started dropping to zero all the time. Did some research and found out that the oil sensor won't read properly with one on it. Switched to mobil one and it always reads right now. Not saying the filter wasn't working properly but the oil pressure guage will not read right with a fram oil filter being used, and have read a lot of reviews that others will not use them in their jeeps as well. Just letting others know as well, if you have this problem on a jeep, this MAY be the problem.

not much of a k&n guy, but fram is about as low as you can go. I dunno about air filters but for everything else filtration wise.. (oil, fuel and what not) get wix. Very close in comparison to some high dollars filters. I didn't know it until about 5 years ago when my amsoil dealer decided to let me in on a little secret.

I've always heard good things about Wix filters. If you go to NAPA you can get their gold line oil filters. Those are made by Wix

yea Fram filters are notorious for having multiple metal burrs left on the threads straight out of the box.
