What Volume Headunits Clip At

Recommended Posts

Bump for a new headunit to ads to the list!

Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD

Only scoped the sub out as I'm not running a 4 channel and I'm not pulling my dash back apart

I used my TPI scope plus 440

EQ was flat

Clip free at 40/40

Only weird thing I notices was at volume 38/40, the voltage was 2.8

39/40 it jumped to 3.6

40/40 was 4.6

"JVC Arsenal single din head units

5.73 volts at volume 48 1k front and rear unclipped

5.40 volts at volume 48 40hz sub volume +8 unclipped

I wouldn't have believed this unless i did the test myself. Also the frequency's are all 0db high bit."

So my JVC Aresenal KD-A815 should be one of these then? I am ecstatic now, if this is true, I have been very conservative on my volume and gains, I didn't know I had this much headroom.

Alpine CDA-105 soft clips at 24

Alpine CDA-105 soft clips at 24Alpine ICA-W205 26 or 27 iirc.
Wow I knew it! I listen to my 105 at 23 max volume and after that I can hear it start to distort. :D

Really??? I have had a CDA-105 for maybe 6 months now and I run it at 30 out of 35. Subwoofer boost at 15/15.

It has NEVER sounded distorted, even when I take it up to 35/35. I thought setting it at 30 was "safe enough".

I should mention i have never had it on a scope. But I haven't fried any equipment yet.

I have an x594, and on the ear it definately sounds good up to 32 or 33 out of 35.. 35 sounds clipped for sure, and 34 sounds somewhat clipped...this is on the ear tho, scope may read different
