you gotta factor in power loss through the lines, impedance rise and much more so you may want to get the coils changed over to a lower impedance...its better to have too much power and back down than try to make up for power by cranking the gains. much easier on the amp and more efficient on your electrical system. also you gotta make sure the box is right to handle that kind of power and wont hurt the sub if its tuned too high to cause bottoming out

ok, well heres how i figured the least amount of power loss. 1/0 gauge power and ground all around, 8 gauge speaker wire, and the box is 3 cubes tuned to 30-35Hz (it was a prefab but its strong as hell plus has 3/4 mdf!!) i dont hear the woofer bottoming out but i can hear it distort like all hell when i really turn it up and since the amp is under-rated for the woofer that has to be letting a bad signal get to the sub. plus i didnt (still dont) have an oscope to use to really check if the signal is clipping or not. i only went by what my dmm was telling me which i know for a fact isnt 100% for setting the gains up.

Anyways thats what ive done so far. im going to probably wait until i buy my dads tahoe from him and start off with another batt, then get the aq amp and finish it off with the irragi alt.

After playing with one for my buddys car I can tell you it's one of if not the best built amps I've worked with and the customer service is great

thanks, im really starting to get toward buying the amp. i havent heard anything bad about it, only a few people saying its not the greatest out there but from the specs, even my co-worker who was an installer for 5 years said it was great.

Hello everybody,

Im looking to get a new amp to power my 12" Kicker SoloX i own. I will be replacing a Precision Power PC2350 amp and i was recommended an Audio AQ3500 d.1 from a few users on this forum. My question is for those who own this amp....

1.) Is this amp really great sounding?

2.) What size batt and alt do you have for running this beast?

3.) What did you hook the speaker up to (resistance level)? (NOTE: my kicker solox is a dual 4 ohm coil so i can only drop it as low as 2 ohms in parallel)

Any help please get back at me.

a 295 amp alternator is recommended for that amp,

to satisfy it

better invest on a good alt than burn your amp or the sub

i had the amp running to my old stock 160 alt

and luckily i had no problems,but better invest a good ass alt,

i would recommend you that,who knows if i fkd up something already

and haven't noticed it yet lol

300 would do

i got a custom made 300+ amps alt from mechman,did 319 amps @ 1800 rpm engine speed @ the dyno,

thats perfect for my install,a 320 alt is just perfect to be in the safe side,

i got screens and other electrical aftermarket units installed in my ride

Hey, thats great to hear that you too like the amp. what level resistance are you at (ohms)? im going to do 2 ohms on mine. i see no need to do 1 or less espically since it takes like 98% power straight from your batt and sounds like crap to run it that low (at least in my opinion i dont really favor it)

And this is toward boomin...i will more than likely get another solox in the near future so thats the only reason im not buying the kicker amp. im just that lazy

Probably not the best amp out there, but for the money you won't do much better.

I've never used the amp personally, but there are plenty people on the boards that will tell you AQ is great stuff for what you pay.

Ok, then ill ask you this just to see if you can answer this.

I noticed that the aq3500d.1 has a dampening factor of less than 250, my amp now has one that is rated greater than 500, will this be a big difference?

Plus i noticed that the thd (distortion) of the aq is 1% whereas my amp i have now is .02%, is that really going to make my solox sound like crap?

Other than those 2 differences the amp is almost just like mine, it has the 24db crossovers and everything.

lets see if i can answer this and not sound like a retard...damping factor has to do with THD (total harmonic distortion) when it comes to subwoofers you generally dont hear it unless its too late hence a fried coil. the higher the damping factor the better the signal is converted to clean power. so where the amp you have now will send a cleaner power but at a lower power where as the audioque will push more power but not as clean. i may be a little off so someone correct where needed but thats how i take it as when it comes to THD

I run 8 of the original 3500's. Have run them from 2ohm each to .25ohm each. VERY solid amps for the $$$...

Have several team mate running the 3500.1's. All are daily drivers that get demo'd full tilt for long periods of time. HO alt and a couple of G31 batts is what I'd recommend for a single amp.
