SMD/LVL 5 Warhorse F150. 10/18 new XS POWER

This is fun its like the SMD guys got all defensive about it as soon as they saw the comments. They know there will be a gain in db with the dc and it will probably perform better... But that doesn't mean he will like the DC better... The SMD is a super woofer for sure and can slam lows all day with crazy wattage. Maybe he will still like his SMD's more just because numbers are better possibly doesnt mean they will fit what he wants. And this isn't to see which sub is better cause he cant do that... It's which one he likes more in his application. So when you guys are saying its pointless It's funny that you dont understand what the test is....

i owen dc's and aa's and have been doing this for 14+ years its pointless and stupid if he said he wants to know what sub he likes better in his truck thats a differnt story but in page 9 i think he said we will finally know what sub is better no you won't you will know what sub likes that box better

exactly. they weren't against SMD's, so the fact that you won means nothing.

i wasnt talking about the SMDs at that point i was just saying i love death matches and i USED DCs...but i had to make sure people know i wasnt going up against SMDs so they didnt think i was...the fact i won means i won...

Hopefully from this I will be able to give everyone an unbiased opinion on the performance of both woofers for daily and SPL applications.

Level 5 was designed for spl

Smd was designed for beat downs for long periods of time. It also takes a lot more power to move that 4 inch coil.

It's not that us smd guys are scared its just that the workers were made for different purposes if he wanted a numbers driver he bought the wrong woofer he should have got the crossfire supergoss sub. It's dope that he's doing the comparison but I think everyones knows that the lvl 5s could get louder. I'm on my phone and can't really write all I want but good luck cj

sounds like a fun test, after your done, drop a warhorse on each sub and do it again

edit: On music that is - if your gonna burp put 2 warhorses on each sub

then after your done with that, put each in a smaller box and see which one wins. Then put them both in a bigger box and see which one wins. LOL - i can go on and on.

Us "AA" guys arent scared.......if this was "level 5" vs "DDZ" it would be the same exact argument.........in fact if it was "DDZ" vs "level 5" (the other way around) it would be the same argument.

the reason its an argument is because your results will be taken as the truth, the final say........when its really not.

I have 57,000 youtube subscribers, i can take that level5 and do a drop in test with a Rockford T2 - and have the world thinkin brand X is better.....and really piss some people off!

So while doing this pointless test you should play each sub at full tilt for 5 hours each and see what sub last longer

Well, I will say that the claims of the SMD was made to sound good it total BS. If someone buys a sub to sound good and it needs 4K or more to do so then theres something wrong. I have never heard an SMD so I cant say how it sounds. But any sub that needs 7K or more to get moving and not expect to have some high output is just stupid. Now the next point of the LVL 5 not taking long term abuse? IIRC DC-Derrick did that at slamology playing his for 2 days full tilt and no problems. I just see alot of bitching and crying.

I think both people are right here: The test is not pointless, but the two subs are rated differently etc etc and to difinitively (sp?) say which is better using this test IS pointless. Instead, this should be viewed as a "Which sub is louder in my particular setup" Test. And it should be noted that other people may have completely different results in thier own setups.

Having your design, electrical, subs and enclosure all SET and just swapping out subs to see what you like / gets the best SPL is fine. Who doesnt want to be using the sub that makes them the loudest? But by no means does that mean that sub A is better than sub B overall, across the board, however you like to put it.

I love to see numbers, alot of people put up vids, but theres not alot of here is my actual score. I think tests like these will give people a better picture of whats possible, where to start, what will be needed to get to a certain level of SPL. If only everyone on here had spl results for each of their builds. that would be sweet.

the SMD was made to be loud AND... sound good doing it. These people are talking numbers. To get numbers you push that sub to its limits. The SMD has a higher limit. One sub has a 3" coil and is going nuts at its limit........and the other has a 4" coil, can take more power, and hasnt hit its limit yet. That is the reason people are saying "apples and oranges".
