I agree and the classification system in Meca put's you head to head with people in same power class. DBdrag is crazy in Super Street No wall there is no limitation on power, subs , batteries as long as it is below the front drivers window line.

actually its a 30 second MUSIC average.

also... it being in another car can actually help that score.

I know how loud eric is, i used to hang out with him and the livewire guys on thursdays, which is team night, untill he started working nights... that dude is amazingly loud with 3 mids and highs amps.. LOL

I have my own series of shows I do as well... but we still like the MECA format... we went to an NSPL show a few weeks back. it was different. and fun.

i understand how PEOPLE THINK that the "Legal" standard is to ensure equality. but its like all those people that thought the Earth was flat...

a couple Hundred years ago people believed the earth was flat... and that turned out to be false

then People KNEW that the Earth was the center of the universe... that too was false

a few Years back the AudioControl was the standard... than changed once the Termlab came along

and until you just now the "Legal" Standard for Equality has been determined WRONG because we are metering the actual MAX SPL you can produce.

haha, I dont think your analogies are correct.

And MAX SPL is different for each vehicle and each setup.

Some vehicles do meter best on the dash for instance, some best sealed up, some best wide open, some best in the kick panel and etc. etc..

But the "legal" method does not equate to the "Earth is Flat" analogy because it is not a wrong way to measure. It has been standardized much in the way 0mph to 60mph has been used as a standard measurement of speed among auto manufacturers.

Not every car is geared to perform best from 0-60, and not everyone even launches the car from 0-60. But it was put in place to compare car's performance with the same measurement technique.

Same is with the "Legal" SPL measurement method. Not every car performs best with it. But you have to measure each car the same across the world to accurately compare their performance. And also with time, you have to measure the same this year, as you did last year so you can accurately compare performance.

It is just fine to go and start new measurement techniques and have fun and experiment. But you still need a standardization word wide.

And I say world wide especially because the USA is a minority in SPL now. There are 3 times as many Europeans all using the "Legal" method and no one questions why they are being asked to be measured equal there.

Its because of the engineering and scientific mindset that whatever can be controlled must be able to be repeated in the same manner over and over. And that's the measurement technique.

The variables are the installs and car's themselves.

If you go and allow competitors to just place the meter wherever they want, for max SPL, that creates so many variables that it cant be controlled on a large scale. Creating drama and distrust.

DB Drag is where its at IMO though. Only number that matters, cause you dont drive around with the doors open, or with your head in the kickpanel.

StreetSPL or NSPL cant remember which it is, uses 2 meters, one on the dash and one at the headrest. most accurate if you ask me.

I like MECA style besides the doors open part and I think vehicle types in its own classes too. Like the CRX. But this would only work if we grouped all organizations together. I think that this would be really exciting to have one big organization because then everyone will be metering the same style for the record scores. There will be more competitors in each class. It's not that fun when you get 1st because you were the only one in your class. lol. But yeah, Meca's cone area + fusing within vehicle classes, trunks, vans, hatches, trucks, and street, modified, and amateur. I also think it should be a sweep type of 25hz-55hz for 30 seconds average or on music for 30 seconds. burping for a sec or two is retarded. We are about audio not tone. But, that's just me.
