  2. totally agree with OP. It's the principle of the matter, i would rather pay MORE online if that's how the owner was treating me.

  3. Any shop that works hard to actually MOVE our product and keeps a fair amount in stock to take advantage of discounted / free shipping will make PLENTY of margin. Not to mention the new 2014 tiered pricing which offers incentives to dealers who are able to sell more volume. Obviously you can't sit one unit on the shelf, have people walk in, point at it and get 100% mark-up.

  4. Sorry to hear that went down man. I can only buy online, due to Every shop in my town wants more then double the online price. A 15" hcca orion sub at the shop in my town 1000$ And if you wanted a w7 try 1200$ in the shop! It sucks that the mark up is so high. But what do you do.....

  5. How about (if there is a next time) you skip the employee and go next door yourself and talk to the manager face to face? lol sounds like a bitch move hiding behind the said "employee" in general that sounds shady as hell to have to call the manager who is next door?! After reading this again I agree it sounds more like a he said she said type of deal. They figured by the sounds of it that since you said you traveled that 80 miles you would be hard pressed to turn down that $220 price.

  6. I completely agree whoever you talked to shouldn't have lied. And I find it rediculous that the owner couldn't come over and talk to you in person. I was just trying to give some insight as to why online brands cost more at brick and mortar stores.

  7. If from the beginning the shop would've said they could get close to internet pricing, then that would be one thing. But to tell me they'd match internet pricing, that's where they became a dishonest business.

  8. I tried to talk to the 'owner" but the "owner" wouldn't come to talk to me and his businesses are adjoining...WTF is that about?!? I try to deal with these small shops because I know its hard to stay in business with the internet. But when the character (and integrity) of the business ain't right, I wouldn't even buy a soda out their vending machine!!!

  9. picture this...someone pulls up to your shop (or garage). They complain that they keep blowing up tweeters or woofers....or whatever. You plug in the new dd-1+ and probe the outputs. Without even touching his system settings, you can see what his overlaps are set at already. Don't be surprised if you probe a problem system and find someone +22db over and wondering why they can't keep a tweet On mids/highs i normally wouldn't want to be to much over 5db of overlap. So you fix him up, and record the NEW overlaps (say you chose 4db). Write that down and next time he shows up, you can probe it and see if anyone f#cked with the settings. If it says 8db, you know his "buddy" helped turn up the volume for him (aka turned his gain up). Warranty voided. I might include some round stickers to go over the gain pot so when you are done you cover them up and avoid temptation
