  1. So I just got in my Amp Dyno a few days ago and have been chompin' at the bit to try to get some stuff together to test. We actually put our house up on the market for sale about the same time I ordered the Dyno. Our house sold in just a couple of weeks, so things have been crazy! I'm currently in a rental, so access to the extra wiring and 240V outlets for running my big 250A power supply is just not available here. I'm working on a temporary solution now. Once you see the pics and voltage, you'll know why I'm telling you this... All that said, I decided to take my big AGM battery from Duracell and hook it up to the amp on the top of the stack of my moving boxes...a late 90's Kicker ZR240. The ZR240 is a 2 channel amp rated at 60x2 in stereo or 240W at 4 ohms mono or 300W at 2 ohms mono (12.5V). I didn't have a charger on the batt, thus the drop in voltage. Still impressive results based on the ratings! 4 ohms mono test @11.49V Certified Mode - 295W (rated at 240W @ 12.5V) 2 ohms mono test at 11.11V Certified Mode - 359W (rated at 300W at 12.5V)

  2. look we are talking about the pre-outs on the head unit. Not the speaker level outs. No one who buys the prs that i know of, buys it to use the speaker outs. Why they even put an amp inside is beyond me. And the prs80 does 62/62 at like .015%thd.

  4. Welcome to the "project x" Toyota Tercel Uninterrupted Build Log - (UBL). This is a place where you will see JUST my pictures and my words, no talk in between. This way, it is easy to see everything! Here is the story: I have this 91' Toyota Tercel sitting there, with 2 cylinders still pumping out about 20hp of pure get up on a trailer power. I decided, i want to try something different. I am thinking i will wall this bitch all the way to the B-Pillar with a huge port and have some dont-give-a-shit fun with this car. In other words, its no Lexus ISF, i can do what i want, even if that is cut a hole, break glass, put sheet rock screws through the roof (with silicone for extra seal) (jokes ). This project is going to take some time. I wan't to do a 160 or better with it. I plan on using DC Audio Amps, possibly 2 or 4 9.0k's. I am going to focus on the enclosure first and use the entire trunk to power the beast. Now for my disclaimer. I have NO IDEA how the Tercel will meter. Some cars (CRX for example) are natural SPL number machines. They just WORK. The Tercel MIGHT do a big number, it might not. I can only try. So if i do all this work, and the number sucks, then ill just have to keep trying. I plan on showing just about every step and there will prob be some bumps in the road. I am willing to do whatever i gotta do though and i hope it at LEAST breaks the windshield :D Thanks to RUSTY at DC - i ordered up the Level 5 15's, and they were here in 3 days. And they are GORGEOUS. Just some early rough measurements to see what kind of space i have to work with. Not totally accurate but close enough to let me know my options.

  5. just stfu and get out. OP, did you adjust the EQ after you set gains? did you turn on bass boost or loudness after you set gains? anything like that? Are you wired down to .25 ohms? I see you are running two d1 subs so i have to ask.

  7. There is no receiver that will not let you go to full volume without clipping. 62 all the way.lol. try tuning with volume at 40.

  10. Outer door skin is only about 60-70% coverage. Sure 20-25% is effective, and may be adequate. But when planning to do high power, every little bit helps. In fact, I skimped out for the power levels I plan on running. I also plan to chase SPL numbers just a little. The inner door skin requires more coverage because the deadener is being used to cover the openings.

  11. Haha this will be fun to watch, I need to get me a project vehicle that can sit in multiple pieces while I work on it instead of a daily driver... someday...

  12. Looks interesting , A 4th order flat horizontal design utilizing the vehicle's shell(re-enforced) could work as well. A simple ported encloser with (4) LvL 5's should produce 160 even with one of the DC Audio amps.
