  1. I don't understand why people think that not even a inch of solder will let the impedance rise, it will rise, but not noticeable with a normal DMM.
  2. I also had a reply from the same guy on a comment. Message: as it turns out I do happen to know quite a bit about car audio as I have worked at a custom Mobile Electroinics company for the last 10 years designing high end A/V systems. (award winning systems) I guess I should clarify what I meant by running straight to the alternator. I understand that running straight from the amps to the alternator does not make much sense because the alternator power needs to be supplemented by a storage device but batteries are the worst thing for the job. Batteries are designed to release power slowly to run an electric motor (your starter) thats it. Capacitors on the other hand are designed to charge and release power very quickly (what a car audio system requires) so when I say quick release I mean a battery that is designed like a capacitor to release power in an instant rather than slowly over time. This theory has actually been proven in the class room (as I taught it to others) (I do know what I am talking about) He said it would be better, to connect the alts straight to the amps, i said he couldn't do that, he needs batteries no matter what. I don't know how much amps you're system is going to be pulling, but i think it has to be over 1200amps, so it's impossible to play music full tilt.(without batteries.)
  3. The order HobbyWerks said is almost the same order i did, do it like he said. To have no static electricity, you just touch the grounding wire in you're walll outlet.(or a piece of the radiators which isn't painted.)
  4. Yesss sir, everybody loves pics.
  5. Is it just me not looking good enough, or aren't their any 45's in the corners?
  6. Are you now going to sign the book, now you have done it? http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/01nocomment8so.gif Signed it.
  7. repost, you can download it from RF's website. EDIT:thread
  8. It's not that big, you need one of these for max woofers and amps. Mercedes sprinter:
  9. What do you mean with built wrong? Did it just didn't work or were there bigger problems?
  10. Damn, it's gonna be a nice build.
  11. It has 60amps worth of fusing, max output of that amp, before blowing the fuses is around 600W.(probably at 1 ohm)
  12. "Bass so loud that it shakes teh bricks." Eminem is the best of all everybody knows it.
  13. If you mean turnin you're gain all the way up to get it's full potential, then the answer is no. You need to set the gain accordingly to the HU output voltage. If you turn up you're gain to the max, then you're subs will die, because you're sending it a clipped signal.(=bad) You need to set you're gains properly with a o-scope, or a DMM(=Digital Multi Meter) If you're using a DMM, you need to connect you're DMM to the subwoofer out. Then put you're DMM in AC voltage mode. Play a 50hz tone on you're HU, with the volume on 75% of it's max. Then adjust you're gains till you see an output voltage of 22.36V.(<= this is 500W got it from this chart)
  14. Nice xmax, but where is the xmech? J/K Damn, i wouldn't sit in front of them, if the cone would come off it would break you're back thru the seat.
  15. What would happen, if those 2 guys were ronnie coleman and another almost as strong guy.
  16. I would go with the config from newls 1, most up-to date hardware and high quality. If u don't want to pay that much, you can buy a intel e8400 and a gigabyte P45, and a good cooler. And overclock it to 3.8 or 4ghz.
  17. If 11=H and 11= witdh then you have 121sq inch of port area, not 141sq inch. You need a minimum of 138sq inch or max 184sqinch. So you're about 40sq inches short to be around optimum port area.
  18. Try it out of the box, on a other amp. Could be bad connection or something in you're box.
  19. Did you hooked it up to another amp? Like you're home amp.
  20. He said 12 cubes, so you could do a port which is 13Hx13Lx and then find the lenght to tune it to 35hz.
  21. I also have a philips gogear, they have amazing sq with high quality songs on the fullsound mode, and some Senheiser full-size headphone's. I listened to a few ipods, with the exactly same songs (borrowed the ipod for a day), and headphones and the philips owns the ipod, in rock,metal,hip-hop,rap, old songs. I can listen well over 24 hours music with the philips.( about a week, around 4 hours a day.)
  22. Instead of a sonotube, you could make a tline, almost the same. Tune the tline to the fs from the sub, and it will go low and high without any problems, i have a tline, and it's nutz. Tline's aren't that hard to build, look at the stickied topic here on SMD.
  23. Are the flex vids up yet? Just kidding, that's a hellalotof flex, in reallife it"s gonna be even more nutz, i just know that cams don't really like to pick up flex.
