  1. Loud at what? Loud at lower frequencies? loud at midrange? loud at high frequencies? How much do you want to spend for "the loudest" midrange?
  2. I think you are going to be dissapointed when you find out that your approach of filling the whole back of the CRX won't give you great results for the money spend. FIrst buy the CRX, or atleast get more information how to get it loud.
  3. Why not? Our forum is like our house. If you decide to come in with some muddy boots and leave dirt everywhere, well... 1. We don't like it. 2. Our 'maids'(I use that term lovingly ) will clean it up. And 3. don't be suprised if you aren't welcome You just called all the moderators maids Even n8ball and ray...
  4. You won't hear a difference at all between 1500w and 2000w clamped. It's barely a db difference. Even with box rise you won't hear the difference. The differnce in percentage between those 2 power levels you mentioned are the same. If the 2kw amp is a boss amp, you will definitely hear a difference between a actual 1500w and some boss audio 2000watts... And you shouldn't take box rise into consideration, don't worry about it at all.
  5. 1500w will probably work better then the 2kw amp since he probably has no electrical upgrades. But no you won't hear a difference in volume. You CAN'T hear a 1dB difference , you won't hear a difference between 1500w and 2000w clamped. You will probably get less then 1dB louder because of power compressiona and other circumstances.
  6. Show him this build. Eventhough it's a build from belgium, it's on here so.. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/57269-beryllium-bmw-323ci/
  7. What is the size of the box and what is it tuned to? What amp are you exactly using?
  8. are you going to connect 1 sa 15 to that amp? If so ill wish you a lot of good luck, especially since you need help with wiring and want to power a woofer with double the power.
  9. Add some bracing at the 40 inch long panel, 40 inches is quite a lot.
  10. Easy thumb of rule is. Take the wattage of all the amps and divide by 12, that get's you the amperage you need. example: 2400w divided by 12 equals 200A. So you need a 200amp alternator and a g31 battery extra per 1000-1200 watts. So 2 big batts. That's if you want a good electrical. A little less should work if you don't play music for longer periods or not at full power.
  11. Take a pick out of all subs, you don't seem to be looking for sound quality, you just want something that doesn't sound like shit. Alpine type R would be a great allround subwoofer.
  12. Never seen a box act "peaky" at low volumes??????? Only at near or full tilt was that sarcasm or what? I said myself that lower port area will help at higher volume, but not as much at low volume. Yes, higher volume can make it sound less peaky.( most of the time it sounds lower with more power.) EDIT: Nevermind, Team bassick , i can't seem to express myself correctly.
  13. If you want to go cheap , keep the amp and don't upgrade to 4k. Simple as that.
  14. He has a PSI recone... on a sonic sound lab. Lower port area and tuned lower should help with the lack of lows at high volume. A new bigger box is needed i assume with the PSI recone. Inverting the sub won't really help, but try and see for yourself. Team bassick, you can't play LOUD all the time so he should better fix the box. Because if he says that the box is peaky, then it must be really peaky. Btw, you won't hear a 2db difference.
  15. Get a alt at mechman, atleast 250 amps. 4000watts divided by 13volts= 307 amps, that's only if your amp was 100% efficient which it isn't. It's about 70%(although 60% would be more realistic.) so 307w times 1.30(=130percent) equals 399 amps to only power your amp.( to be honest in real life it will be about 200-250 amps) Your car also needs electrical so add about 50 amps to it, even more with AC on . That already 250-300 amps of current draw on the car electrics and sub amp. I assume you have a amp for highs too since it would be rediculous to only use 12W from you HU if you have 4kw going to subs. See why you need at different alternator? Batts don't make power, they only store the power the alt makes and release it when the amp needs it.
  16. why would i be a squid? If im saying he should start out with a smaller capacity bike? Excuse me for saying drive, i wasnt very awake and english isnt my native language so i make mistakes from time to time.
  17. if its the first year of your license it will be that high. Less cc=less insurance, and its safer to start out on. Youll learn a lot more about cornering, and how you have to handle a motorcycle with a slower bike, because you need the keep the speed more constant to be faster. A normal 250cc should be able to go to 60mph in 7seconds. So its not slow. A honda/kawasaki/yamaha 500cc would also be a good starter. Dont start out on supersportbikes like gsxr, yamaha r, cbrs. Most of the people who want to start out riding those only want to go fast instead of actually drive a motorcycle.
  18. I wouldn't use 2 18's or 4 12's in a CRX, use 2 12's, that should give you the best results.
  19. I would use a FI recone, just like forum asshole and bron of bass said. Psi has been known to sometimes use low quality materials.
  20. That amp looks very nice. It has been a long time since end caps were used and i sometimes miss them. I think it's a nice feature JBL has put into their amps, but like you said they should better say to turn your deck up to a few notches below max volume.
  21. You will not see a performance difference. Just pick the ones you want.
  22. Look at the red parts. Like dkahns said, the dimpling will help but it's just not easy to do. And noone does it.
  23. JBL amps sounds pretty good too for a reasonable price.
