  1. just about to say that. damage does not have to occur right away. plus, 'positioning' of a knob (volume, gain, etc) has nothing to do with the output of your amp. your bass knob being halfway up could have been what was killing them
  2. been listening to it a while. i like it a lot. if i could, worldwide choppers, lonely, mama nem, promised land, lots of tracks i like i seriously HOPE HOPE HOPE i get to see tech august 4th. one week...just gotta get someone to go with me
  3. on my 3g, if i pressed down SUPER hard on it, it would work sometimes. other times if i pushed down and at a certain angle it'd work too. how comfortable are you at disassembling it? when you crack the screen open, there's 3 cords that need to be taken off in a specific order, then plugged back in in a specific order. at least that's how the 3g was, i imagine the 3gs would be pretty much the same way
  4. first off...ROFL at your avatar lol. if your pump/tank doesn't come with tubing, you'll need some tubing. possibly some fittings as well. some kits come with these things, some don't. what is the PSI rating on your pump? you'll need an electric switch to cut it off when it reaches a certain PSI. and i assume the air horns have a solenoid built into them already.
  5. Fyerbyrd22 I think I can answer this one. But someone else please chime in if I am correct. I believe from what I could gather, the best method to use would be to use the most often used form. So if you used your ipod 99% of the time to listen to your music in your car, then rip the songs off the disk and put em on your ipod, and use your ipod to tune it, if you listen to CD's 99% of the time then use the CD to tune it. I gather that the CD is just to provide the exact clean, non clipped, tones for tuning. But someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I don't think it would matter which way you do it. Because either way you are setting your gains to the MAX they can be w/o any distortion. But I think i see what your saying.. so if anyone else wants to throw in some input on this do so. It would depending upon the media player used. If you set it though CD, you'll be using "0db" (don't know if this is the correct terminology, but bear with me). When you rip it to your computer, you'll have some losses due to compression. When you transfer to your iPod, if you connect through the headphone jack, the iPod may boost the output by a few DB. It does make a difference. Will the difference be large enough to cause you a problem? Likely not. Set your gains by the method you most often listen to music. you need to set it with the media player that is most often used, regardless. i set it through my cd player, and played through my ipod and it caused some major issues. yes you're setting it to the max to not clip...through that specific media player that you set it through. setting it from a cd player is not necessarily set to play through an ipod.
  6. i myself think of an idea that i like, or something i want on a specific part (like my arm...but don't know exactly what) then i eventually figure what i want and i'll sit on that idea for a while. if after a while i'm like 'hmmm...maybe i should put this there' then that's not what i want or else later on i'll wish i put something else there. the first tattoo i got i thought about for a year before i got it. then took almost another year to get the second one. the next one i'm putting on my ribs and drew it up myself so i know that's how i want it to look. basically...i don't jump into getting any, regardless of meaning. just make sure that's what i want, where i want it
  7. not mainstream but popular enough and established among forums. like mentioned try obisidian or rival subs. AQ is just as popular imo, but maybe check into crescendo amps
  8. i always break my screens on my phones i have a pretty nice case on this one tho, and with the better glass i hope it holds out this time around
  9. i can understand being cautious, but you won't really need that screen protector. your phone has gorilla glass installed on it it's pretty damn resilient. resilient enough for me to not worry about it getting any scratches and not deal with a sticky screen protector that looks like an orange peel wtf did you just say??
  10. if i was going to get a demo and heard justin beiber come on, i'd get up and walk out
  11. anything in the 30's is great. i'd like it to be my secret demo song that'd be awesome if you could get it worked out
  12. funny you say that. i PM'd decaf a little while ago seeing if he took requests. guess that answers that lol. ok but seriously...i'd love some bass lines in this song don't know of the legalities of doing that song and redistributing tho. not quite enough time for me to learn to do so myself. there's a few spots where you can hear the 'bum bum bummmmm' which would sound nice with some bass drops lol. your call
  13. you guys are assholes lol. seriously tho i can't stand that either. especially if it happens over n over or a long string of pics to say 'cool'. big pet peeve of forums, so i feel your pain
  14. good luck cutting the wood then lol. especially the circles. not something i'd want to do by hand, even the straight cuts. i'd at least get a jigsaw. get crafty enough and you can do fairly straight lines. holes will be covered with a sub so not as important.
  15. ^^^bingo. more mainstream brands tend to get the CEA certification. but just cuz it doesn't have it, doesn't mean it doesn't put out it's rated power. sundown, DC, IA, SD, etc all have been proven to produce their power. that's when research and more research comes into play. i prefer to buy an amp that impresses me in real case scenarios/installs rather than what's on paper
  16. all 4 subs? yes, series/parallel them like so
  17. and just fyi, the peak frequency may most likely not be your tuning frequency. and no, there's no app for that. you need an actual sensor, which is what a termlab is whereas the iphone just has a mic. which will tap out super fast at that
  18. more, smaller amps does help fight rise compared to one big one. when a coil shifts, it's impedance changes slightly. so if one amp has to control lots of coils, the impedance changes more than if it were to just control one coil. it's late so i hope that sounds right lol also...music is too dynamic to try and worry about fighting rise. just build it, install it, and bang it
  19. i need to work out a couple kinks on my PC version, then i plan on working on an android/iphone app. speaking of which...i should probably get to tweaking it now instead of being lazy lol
  20. he knew a ballpark range. imo 36-42 is a wide range. but to find peak, you'll need a TL. call some local audio shops, they may have one you can test on a while. may charge, may not. but at least you won't have to buy one
  21. whew, glad this isn't a thread praising how 'amazing' it is lol. when i used it a long long long time ago, the adhesive itself stopped sticking in about 50% of the area i put it in. bleh
  22. probably that a wider port would make it more efficient is what i'm thinking. imagine 8 little ports vs 1 big one, just not to that extreme
