same thing im going through.. its expensive to get 17 or 18 inch tires. thry getting the most common rim size and it will be cheaper. 20's might be around that price or a bit cheaper

Shit, I was paying more for 17 inches than I do for 22s. 24s cost me the most.

I used to have good luck finding used rubber at the local tire shop. Shit once I got some tires they only had two of that were discontinued for $35 each because they couldn't order any more to be able to sell a complete set they were $200 each normally. You'd be surprised what you can find at the small tire shops.
