Cool story. Nice customer service at DC. But those 2 shops are scarry !!!!! They could not set the gain right on an amp ?!!! Before the DD-1 people could set the system with their ears. Maybe they were all deaf at those shops !!!

2.5 ft3 for a 15" sub ? Been told by the owner ? I'd rather have a bigger box and less power !!! I've never seen any 15" liking 2.5 ft3 ported. At least 3ft3, but that's on the small side !

One 8" won't be louder than your system. Maybe you should try another box ? Play with net volume, port area, lower tuning, subs & port placement, box palcement in the car,...etc If you want to test this sub, get at least 2, or 3 or 4 of them on your amplifier ! Usually I see pics with at least 2 SA8 per box.

polk speakers are pretty quiet. i dont think removing speakers would be a good option. curious as to why you think he should take them out? Maybe to go easy on the head unit ? And because you can't even hear them in the back. I think it's a waste of power and money, unless you're going for a big demo car and you need a lot of speakers to play with doors open, with a huge bass. I'm not an expert, I just speak off my own experience. I used to have rear speakers, until I noticed that I did not need them. I changed those rear speakers several time but I was never able to appreciate them while driving.

Get rid of the cap, get rid of the rear speakers, and tell us the results.

Maybe, as someone said, you need some better midbass speakers in your front stage. And yes, 29 is really low ! I tune my box around 34 Hz, and it's low enough for my musical taste. I used to tune around 32, but 34 is better for me now ! shorter port, less gross volume, and still got the lows ! (my car has a small hatch area).

Sundown FTW ! I need the same saz 2500 for my btl ! But Kicker amps are very good ones too. Like they said, it will be much easier to run a single amp. If I understand correctly you would use each Kicker at 2 Ohms and the Sundown at 1 ? I hope so.

Bass boost on amp ? To use only if your head unit is VERY weak, and even when you crank the gain up, you have just a little bass, not enough. But nowadays h u are strong and powerful enough : you don't need boost no more. That's what the Sundown owner told me once. IIRC !

Why do you want to know that ? Do you compete at high levels? If not, spend your money on something more usefull. But it's YOUR money, do it if you want !

Nice features on this h u. I like the Pioneer a lot. But they could have made it as nice as the old 800/880 prs. This one is too ugly ! But the ipod and usb control was missing in the older one. I sold mine only for that reason, and I got a 9300 sd : I'm very happy with it ! Less music control , but that is enough for me. That new one is a superior deck, though.

You can wire your subs to 1 or 2 Ohms ? How an you do that ? 8 gauge may not be enough. But I am not an expert.

so someone is saying he can hear the difference between several amps ? Same settings, same power ? How can you be sure ? I thought an amplifier was meant to make power, and not modify the sound of the speakers. Don't believe the hype !!!

If you're so far away, you can save/pay a little more and get a better amp. (I'm not an Hifonics lover !)
