I would have gone more towards 4-5 cf myself and 30-35 hz tuning. My lvl 5 12 is in 2.5 cf with 17 cf port tuned to 37 hz and it hits very strong down to about 26 hz.

Just because you're tuned low doesnt mean the lows will be loud. Lows are much more power hungry than high notes and this is where cone area comes into effect too.

Problem with it is...whos going to fund it? Steve paid for the wood and shit for that project or atleast put a good amount of $$ into it and audio saving IIRC supplied the woofers. Sure these contests are cool...but thats why they're cool, they only happen once in a while. You may be far away, but you could have made the drive if you were that interested.
