  1. What korey said, normally 1 or 2 larger ports are much better option than numerous smaller ones. I'd use a few 6" ports myself.
  2. As hdorre said, good luck man. I'm looking at schools now and still haven't decided what I'm going for. Also considering military and getting vetted in welding. (welders can make damn good money) Most people are all say and no do. Better to act on your ideas/decisions. Turns dreams into reality man.
  3. That's my kinda competition. Any limitation on tuning? They should make a tuning rule. Two separate classes for 35hz and up and a class for 34hz and below with modified point scale te lower you go. Knowing some people tune at resonant frequency and such would be nice to give those groundpounders more of a chance if tuned hella low.
  4. Its a shitty kenwood that got thrown in because I dont have a decent sub. Dont make me cry james. And actually the sub isnt even in right now as im redoing all my wiring, and im waiting on my highs amps to hook up the hertz. Im just a with a plan. And I just looked at the time. I work in 6 hours. GY shift ftfl. Edit: The big 400 post count. James im gaining on you.
  5. It does, but I lose high end very quick with one sub tuned @ 28hz. I was just wanting to make sure these should push 50hz relatively fine. Now to read up on speaker aiming. Edit: Also on the list down the road is buy 3 more 15s and do a back seat fourth order/wall so I dont need to worry about losing the highs while getting my lows.
  6. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Does a speakers surround/glue/spiders/suspension 'loosen' up after being played? Yeah it does. Does it create a noticeable difference? Over time it may slightly keep increasing. How long does this 'breakin' take? Can take countless hours and even years to truly 'break' a sub in. Just put her in and put full power to her. The whole 'only put [insert % of max power here] to the sub to break it in' is a load of bullshit. I let my stereo do what its supposed to; I twist the dial and let her go WFO. Edit for all those people who dont keep up on acronyms. http://wfo.urbanup.com/4921592
  7. Was curious as to how low I can expect the 4 6.5s to play. Im wanting the mids to bridge the gap between my mids and subs (as they are meant to be). Im really wanting mids capable of dropping down to 50htz and if I need some 8" shallows or something for a bit more depth along with the 165s so be it. Any suggestions are appreciated.
  8. Oh and I just noticed the new buttons. Damn those are sexy,
  9. Type Rs are decent starter subs. (I like them alot more than any of the kickers..sound better imo.) If you havent already, make sure you read up on everything. First builds are always fun.
  10. Unless it was terribly significant voltage drop I couldn't see it significantly dropping your score. Did you ever check what your box rise was? or clamped it? Box rise+huge voltage drop might hurt your score by a decent margin. Your running a DC 3.5k @ .7, right? With Vdrop and depending on rise that power may be cut in half or more, and trunks are hard enough to get loud in the first place.
  11. Thats garjus! (Redneck termonology for the term 'gorgeous', we have our ways down in the south) These cant come soon enough. 2 new amps on their way with no oscope to set them.
  12. Just spent $500 on a highs amp or I'd prolly pic this sumbish up. Good luck...I'll hit you up if my situation changes.
  13. Voted and liked. She handing out her number for likes? N00ds better be coming because that was me going out f the way. ^^^^lol at him not loling when he lol'd.
  14. If it was agreed upon I'd either have them pay for what they owe you and budget if you want t or not. Shit comes up sometimes, so I'd just pay for it when you want it. Fuck them.
  15. The suggested 4.5ft box is way to big after displacement. 3.5-3.9 is about perfect after displacement for 2k watts imo. Set your gains like cj said and that will help severely. Read up and learn what you should already know. Clipping is basically sending a dirty signal to your amp, causing it to put out a TON of power, more than the amp should be making. This can and will harm your amp and sub In the long haul. Also, check and see how hot your amp is getting. If clipping and such so severely it could be cutting out from the heat. Turn your gains down and bassboost off and set gain accordingly. Also, If you have a pos hu it could also be the one clipping. Need a scope to figure that out though. Just read what your voltage is reading...Jesus, time for electrical upgrades. Do the big 3 as soon as you can.
  16. nah its for the escort, and i think i found another amp 2 use.......... lets say the guy who has it now benched it @ 10krms @5ohm and i am getting another 3 of the hawkers that will be going where the bench of the back seats r now, so 7 of them plus the 180 amp alt (when i get it) also with the adjustable reg too. i was thinking about wiring in a permanent scope thing so i can see when im playing that the signal is clean What do you guys reckon? hmm... SD 16k?... That or I could see a Stetsom 14k put that much out.
  17. Insurance here drops at the age of 21 then a pretty good margin more at 25. My first car was a 1990 Nissan sentra and I payed on liability only about $900 a year with this pos car at 212k.
  18. Voted for #5. Nicest setup and ribbon tweets ftw. Second choice would probably be #2 depending on the room it was going in.
  19. Still have a couple hundred worth of stuff in my cart. I should have my check in the bank today if I can go pick it up. Nice knowing its some great shirts for a great cause. DC audio ftmfw.
  20. Some people are pretty anal about having the same highs amp as their mono. I can respect that. Im all for having more power on tap for whenever I might want to upgrade.
  21. My firefox has been up all day and has literally about 4 times as many tabs open and is pulling 380k. Its still only one gig, but thats quite the jump there. How many little gadgets and shit you have on firefox? I have adblocker plus and thats pretty much it. Either way.../shrug. Thats why I have 8 gigs.
  22. Why? Youd get better/cleaner power as well as more from a real highs amp @ 8ohms vs any headunit amp.
  23. http://darvex.com/store/pc/Stinger-12-Gauge-Pro-Series-Black-Speaker-Wire-67p606.htm Just got 50 feet. Who said oversizing wire is bad?
  24. Ive heard rumors of a 125x4. Not sure if srs though. But that being said...set your gains low and put more than one set of speakers per channel if that might work.
