  1. I demod at SBN this year ... Hoping to compete next year !!! I will be demoing at MECA finals this year too ... And hoping to be competing next year there also ... Yes, I would really like to see Mr Meade (and all of the SMD nation) at MECA world Finals this year in Tennessee ...
  2. I heard them both this year at Scrapin the Coast in several different vehicles ... They sounded great (in most of the vehicles that were installed correctly) and seemed like they could handle a dang good bit of power too ... Flip a coin ...
  3. Where do you plan to install these drivers ??
  4. I know of a pair of 8s that play down in the low 20s real nice, clean, and loud ... They are in a Tundra center console enclosure tuned REALLY low ...
  5. I'm just thinking that the "blow through" idea with what you plan on working with might not give you any more output than your "under the rear seat" enclosure ... I did not like my "under the rear seat enclosure" either. It sounded good, just not what I was looking for ... The big enclosure (4 15s) was loud, but not nowheres enough dynamics and the "blending to music" capabilities for me either. So that left me with one big hole in my back wall ... and my 4 10s isoberic (basically a tuned enclosure for 2 12s) enclosure idea that Team Linear / Blues built for me worked out great !!! With the way its tuned now, my best on the spl meter is 137.7 db at 28 htz ... I'm almost positive if you installed one similar tunied to around 32 htz with good equipment, you should be well into the 140s with a chance of a 150 ... and still sound very good on music ... but I can promise you one thing ... getting the currage to take a airsaw to the metal is not an easy thing to do ... just make sure you have a fiberglass bedcover to cover everything ...
  6. I agree with this ... Cutting that wall is not easy, regardless of the size of the hole ... If you plan to do this, might as well go balls to the wall !!!
  7. I have a strange feeling that this style enclosure is not going to give you the output you desire ... Most people doing a blow through usually runs 4 15s or better for massive output through the port ... For nothing larger than a pair of 12s, I would suggest a more simple ported style enclosure like mine using the front baffle as the back wall instead of a "blow through" port ... That way you can adjust to your desired tuning instead of settling with a "one note wonder" port, or extreme low tuning ... I also would suggest a nice 32 htz tuning for those drivers for a tad bit of SQ and a healthy amount of SPL ... That enclosure being mated to the back wall cabin area should give you a very nice "gripping your throat" deep bass like mine ... Then again. Just my suggestion here ...
  8. I wouldn't cut a square into your truck's metal ... your acordian boot will not go on and seal properly and leak water like crazy ... my suggestion would be to oval shape it or something ...
  9. Theres tons of ways to make a vehicle stage and image ... That takes installer experience, testing, and tuning ... just about every vehicle is different ... Wish it was just that easy ...
  10. are you really going to add all of that weight to your street machine ... looks to me like you may have done alot of work to remove weight for performance ... My suggestions would be to use a pair of 6x9 coaxs in the rear and a pair of 6.5 coaxs in low in the front doors off of a small foot print 4 channel amp or power them by the headunit and be done with it ... Get you a daily ride to weigh down with stereo ... but, its your ride ... just my suggestion here, I had me a street machine Camaro back in the day ... well, actually 3 of them (71,83, and a 85) ...
  11. This guy is a total idiot for this ... Not this ... different story !!! Awesome !!! Sunds like something I would want done at my funeral ... much respect here !!!
  12. I'm not going to say much about that build ... just thats its VERY complicated and deffinately one of a kind !!! but thank you for all the kind comments ... My point to this in this thread is that with great planning and execution, anything is possible in the Car Audio world ... Your system is what you make of it ... Best of luck with the Impala build Sir, keep us posted !!!
  13. inside the passenger door in the kick pannel ... just like any other vehicle in competition ...
  14. For the correct amount of money, we can make your kids power wheels "caddy" hit a 180 db in competition ... don't believe me ?? we got pics and vids to prove it ...
  15. Being a Cable Guy, I'm near this stuff all the time ... Stuff ain't no joke !!! I carry poison Ivy cream in my first aid kit on a regular basis ...
  16. I do like the tweeter positioning ... but not the 8s ... If it was me, I replace / rebuild the fronts of the doors with those 8s if possible ... I've never have any (musical) luck with the drivers to the rear of the doors ... sound blocked / muffled by the seats ...
  17. Thank you Guys !!! Yep, we are going to make a kicker component set stage and image, CVRs hit like monsters, and try and do a real clean install on it to boot ... Going to be a challenge, but definately fun ... Yes, we will get a build log for SMD ...
  18. Yep, I'm getting more soon to finish my truck and Soon to be getting started on my son's Elantra with that Kicker System I won from SMD SOTM ... We got some cool tricks up our sleeves for that ride ...
