  1. 25-50% is a good rule of thumb for most people to cost effectively cut rattles that you hear on the inside and flex over all. That being said I plan to have over a grand in second skin in my next car. 240sq feet plus all the liners I can fit? I think so. Because I want my 150db future trunk to sound like thunder and almost impossible to find a rattle inside or out. Successful? I'll let everyone know Post pics of said deadener install bro.
  2. I hear walls get you bitches and stripper poles get you laid. Now if you run all that with inverted subs in a 4th order at .5ohms daily tuned to 33hz... They will be lining up.
  3. I'm having a brain fart second guessing myself. What's easier on a 4ch. Bridged at 2ohm or every channel running 4ohm? It's the same right?

Maybe I'm saying it wrong? Bridged so each ch sees 2ohm, so bridged at 4? Then each ch running at 4ohm vs any bridged I'm talking about is still easier right?

Ahh, okay. If each channel sees 2 ohms, you'd be bridged at 4ohms.. Its confusing LOL Running at 4 ohms per channel would still be easier simply because the amplifier would output less power. On top of that, it'll be more efficient at the higher impedance, so even less work.

Im tired, so maybe that didn't come out coherently, but 4 ohms/ch is easier lol

  4. I was playing man. I was making a exaggeration to the 4 18's thing. Lol
  5. Why not 8 18's ? I second the roof brace thing. Or some kinda extra support. Crap load of deadener?
  6. I hate that Termlab numbers are all some people care about. I have a kid telling me how much louder he will be then my trunk and I tried to explain that we have different goals. I wanted mine clean loud low and have trunk space. He disregarded the clean low and trunk space part and is telling me how much better his will be. :-/... I didn't even start it. Lol

  11. 160db for how many minutes? My gf is a boss. That is all. Flavius put on a great hair trick show though! Vid uploading now.

  12. 146.4 sealed out of the trunk at 33hz. Good enough for 2nd place trunk class. Now to just get into the 147-148 range, I've been looking at the results and most 148db trunks take home a place at every show.

Thanks guys! Im kinda wondering if my car would do good in meca because of how low I peak. I have done ZERO testing. All i did was threw my seats and visors forward and closed my air vents. Did a 80-25hz sweep at half volume. They said between 30 and 35hz I started at 30 doing full tilt burps skipping trace from 30-35. So i think my peak is 33 or 34.

  14. Apparently I hold 13.7 on my worst note with a very very soft clip, ct sounds 2500 at .5ohms nominal. Should I shoot for 14's?

      I have a "270" Tenney a D3400 and 3 D3100.... I think my sk2500 will be good a .5 till I get a second one lol

      Swordlordboy1234

I was holding 12.0 with same electrical as now with Skar 2500 at .5, bad ground, and CCA. Found amazing ground. Held 13.8.. Then upgraded ct2500 at .5 and was back down to 12.4... Then OFC and Xs power got me back to 13.7... Grounds ftw.

  15. So I'm seriously considering trying to take a page out of wicks book and body fill the crap out of my foam seal off and cover it in flock.

  17. Let's get a head count... Who will be going to Conroe feb 22nd for lone star throw down?

  18. yeah I've been asking everyone including my dad who is a awesome mechanic. He and most of you seem to think that carefully retapping to the larger size should be fine as long as i don't try to tap too fast and i use proper lubrication with all the tapping techniques I've found around on the DIY internet. Dad also mentioned the helicoil thing too but suggested re tapping slightly larger first. He also told me to be very careful to only go wider.. not deeper as to not puncture any part of the battery.
  19. Lesson - still inspect even though you are friends with the person. The Helicoil DIY i found online was i guess the worse case. He drilled the threads clean with a drill.. then used his kit to make brand new threads and then make sure the bolt threads were perfect... then tighten down. I found a $40 kit on harbor freight... Anyone got any advise on this one? After a quick stop at auto zone for some washers and bolt combos I've pretty much determined that its gonna need to be re done. Im no professional but I'm pretty sure if something strips threads the moment its more then "finger" tight then something isn't right. http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/tap-die/60-piece-sae-metric-tap-and-die-set-35407.html
  20. watching people on a Facebook classifieds thing argue about how low they wire their m4a daily. Talking about .25 and .35 daily. Sure maybe they are, and maybe the amp takes it... But why? Im wired .5 daily holding high 13's but ill never wire that low again. Id rather just get another amp.

  21. awesome video cody. I noticed about a .4 ish voltage gain with my dual inputs using way less sophisticated equipment.. But just tossing that in there to say that i did see and hear an improvement.
  22. Yeah i was thinking a variation of bolt size might be worth a try. Just debating if longer or shorter is best. The threads that are gone are only like 1/4 off the bottom. Now I'm deciding if maybe a little .75 or .5 inch long bolt is able to work. Learned my "Lets buy used to save money" lesson for the 5th or 6th time now.
  23. messaged nathan on here a few days ago. No reply yet. Thinking of calling the office if he doesn't reply. Anyone know the hours off hand? Assuming m-f 9-5?
  24. didn't know about those... Researching now.. Anyone else? btw thanks for that suggestion bro
  25. So i got a used d3100. The negative terminal has a couple stripped threads in it (exactly where they need to be to tighten down my toolmaker terminals) Has anyone ever rethreaded these? Any suggestions on maybe raising the TM terminals higher and maybe try to use threads that are not damaged? (I guess that would mean a shorter bolt) What about something like this http://4xspower.com/shop/terminals/589/ Anyone know where i could get something like that? ^ Im just trying not to lose my ass on scraping this battery just to buy a new d3100 (which i should have done in the first place) . I got it resting 12.9 after some training. This is the couple year old d3100 with the MAX amps rainy for 3200 (not 5000).. currently m7 bolts fit in it (not the m6's like I've seen everywhere else) edit: i know there are only a few stripped threads because once i get past them it tightens down nicely. But i guess 3-4 lugs stacked or the height of my distro blocks are exactly where i am ending up. And once i try to tighten them down and fail (starts spinning).. i pull everything out and i can see 1 or 2 thread shavings at the bottom which I've cleaned up. Any thoughts or suggestions?
