Soundstream SPLX BREAKING AGAIN

I would try a different brand of sub from that shop if it were me and see how well they do compared to the soundstreams. If that isn't an option i would ask for a refund and order some SA 15's from sundown.

If you look at the left side of the picture at the tinsel lead there is a solid plastic ring that should have extended further to complete the cirlce..that broke off. that was held to the basket and it popped off like the glue did. then there is that plastic piece that i am touching that holds down the spider cover and that snapped off too

Bang em if you got em

can you swap these out for a different brand at the shop. plastic has no business being on a woofer especially in that area.

dont do that. play nice. His reply may have had a smart assed tone to it but its good advice. the more you know the less you break stuff.

It did have a smart ass tone, but it really wasn't intended like that. It was just trying to point out that besides the possible manufacturers defect, the logic will only cause issues in the future. And there is nothing from blocking the company in saying you made a user error, and therefore any warranty would be voided leaving shit out of luck. hope the message was taken more constructively

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

No problem man, i apologize as well. Its all in good fun. The thing is the shop owner told me just a little while ago that it was his fault for puting out the faulty equipment again withouth checking the serial the second time. I will give soundstream 1 more chance. If it doesnt work out i guess its on to new equip. Live and learn i suppose.

Bang em if you got em

whats with all the gain stuff? its cleary a mechanical fault with the sub, not the amp. Clipped signal would have cooked the coil, not launched a spider spacer or retention ring, whichever one that is. Send the subs back and dont buy that make/model anymore apparently.

MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..."

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

amps are set with dmm

I read down to this post so if its been covered, i apologize..

DMM gain setting DOES NOT I repeat DOES NOT stop clipping....

I dont care what you say, it doesnt...

you can take a 5000w max pyle amp, and gain it up to 5000w but you will be CLIPPING THE FUCK OUT OF IT...
