superdave07
Alright, since this is my first DC install i would like to ask some opinions. Im putting two level 4 18s in my civic hatch. This will be a wall build, from B pillar back, i have plenty of room for airspace. my question is what air space/port size seems to work best with these subs? I am running an AP3000d to them. Subs should see around 1500rms a piece. i would like to tune this around 30-32 hertz. If anyone has any input that would be great. Also wondering (since this is my first wall) about the port, Meade did his port in his civic on the bottom, most people do the top, which works better? Im not going for numbers as much as the wow factor lol. If anyone has any advice that would be great. thanks in advance! Will be a build log, woofers shipped today so as soon as i get them... CJ18
6 cubes per sub after displacements will give you a good full sound. I would use about 16in2 per ft3 of port and tune to 30-33hz. Also if you havent ordered the subs yet, I would add the level 5 coils to them to help with the power handling. Also with the AP3k dont plan on seeing a real 3000w, I just clamped the 4 PB3k I have in a mini van with 4 XL 18s and am clamping 2800w per pair with rise to 6ohmsand voltage drop to 13v. I would say you will see anywhere from 1500-2k out of the amp with good voltage after box rise.
superdave07
Im not sure if i have the surface area of the wall to do the port in the center...but ill measure it out. Well the AP3k that im using now was clamped at 1507 & 1522 per channel at 1 ohm last season. i have plenty of electrical, well for that amp that is lol. They are dual 2s. The subs already shipped, kinda working on a bit of a budget, but i think the subs will hold up, i wont be daily beating them anyways. Thanks guys keep em comin! memphisBred
12 cubes with 192 total sq inches of port at 30ish Hz. I believe that's what CJ is recommending. Quote SMD Super Seller/Buyer Audison----Hertz----Rainbow

Team_DC-Derrick
Im pretty sure you have enough room in a civic hatch to do it, your car is slightly bigger than mine, and aaron fit a center port in mine lol Quote The DC Integra 3 18s to 6 15 build log Team_DC-Derrick's Youtube Team DC Audio where theres a will theres a wall....... I'd do 18 - 20 square inches per I think that is too big for the Level 4s. If they were level 5s I could see it.
superdave07
So you guys think 12 cubes after displacement, 192 total square inches of port, and the vote thus far is port in the middle? maybe im crazy but that sounds like a small port lol Anyone wanna sketch up a box for me? only have llke 42" of width and 30" of height to play with, depth is flexible....
