Level 3 Power?

it was also good advice. If you would rather take dc=realbass advice over CJs(who just so happens to be a rep for DC Soundlabs) by all means go ahead. Ill let you know that one is an idiot and its not the one you are upset about.

I was in no way trying to be insulting.

There is no reason for dc=realbass to recommend running 1000w+ to a Level 3 which is rated for 600w RMS. Even with upgrading and getting a Level 3 with the Level 4 coil I wouldnt recommend going over 1000w RMS to the sub.

There are applications where a sub can take over its recommended RMS power rating, but those builds are done by guys that understand what it takes for a sub to be able to handle the extra power they are throwing at it and how to do so safely without constantly burning up coils.

For your application, I assume you are going to be using it as a daily driver that will be taking daily abuse. I have to recommend that you run the AQ1200 at 2 ohms to your Level 3 or possibly run the risk of damaging the sub in which case it will just cost you more money for a recone. If you really want to run the aq1200 at 1 ohm, I would purchase a second d4 level 3 and give both subs RMS power.

CJ I'm sorry. But I know what a subwoofer can and cannot do from past experiences. I have blown a subwoofer or two in my younger years. I just get sick of people saying that just because someone asked a question that was stupid. This is what forums are for...to help people understand other peoples post, not make them feel stupid for asking a question.

Anyway, CJ, can you send me a pm on a price for a level 3 12" sub with an extra spider? Also, would you recommend a 1.75 cubic foot enclosure tuned at 30 Hz?

There is a reason why a RMS rating exists

Apparently dc=realbass doesn't knows what he's doing, since he likes to have his woofer do things that are useless.(Like making it have a excursion of 2 inches, which is past xmax.. And letting it waste wattage, since there is a point where the sub doesn't actually gains anything except added heat.)

get the single level 3 D4 ohm and wire it @ 2ohms on a AQ1200D

that gives you head room to later on add a second level 3 D4 ohm and wired the pair @ 1 ohm to the AQ1200D

just to reiterate a point, my friend ran an AP1500d on 2 LVL 3 15s, and even tho it was only 750w each before rise, he would get em smelly. The point being that 750 is absolutely in the realm of what a LVL3 can handle, but if you are clipping the hell out of it, it will still adversely affect the sub. An AQ at 2ohm with gains set responsibly is more then enough in a daily install

then he doesnt know wtf hes doing... i had 2 AP3ks @2ohm ea on 4 level 3s. i never smelt them.. and i played them.. very hard every single day

if you knwo what your doing a level 3 will take a decent amount of power
