HatersGonnaHate Posted October 1, 2012 Author Report Posted October 1, 2012 Fucking lol @ Nate. About the alt. I took it up to my buddies garage so I'd be working out of the rain. Took the old alt out, struggled to put the new one in. Fucking struggled. The old alt was damn near impossible to wiggle out of the location, but it was even harder trying to force a larger case alt in there. But I got it in and slid the bolt through the top hole to hold it in. Spent the next hour trying to get the bottom hole to line up with the "adjustment sleeve", ended up having to loosen the sleeve from the block and move the angle up about a quarter inch til the holes aligned and i slid that bolt in. Then I had to blindly put the adjustment wingnut/bolt into the bottom bolt, which was nicely fucking rusted. Got that done. Plugged in the sensor and the power wire. Put the belt back on and got the tension right, put the power steering pump back in and put that belt on. Wired all the batteries back up and went to start the car. Fired it up, battery light came on immediately, voltmeter wasn't sensing any charging voltage, just sitting steady at 12.7v. Then the alt started whining and humming. Not belt squeal. So I shut it off, kicked a trash can all the way across the shop, disconnected the batteries again, ripped everything back apart and installed my stock alt. It was late. I was frustrated. And I wasn't going to trust having a whining and humming alt in my car while I'm rolling down the street. So I just need a full day to go ahead and redo the damn thing, most likely the pulleys weren't aligned correctly or something really simple. But it was already 8pm and I was in no mood to fuck with it any more. When I shut the car off and threw the stock alt back in there, it took about 20 minutes lol.
