04SDExplorer
The search wasn't working for me so i apologize if this topic has been discussed in the past.. I recently noticed on the outside of the box, mainly where the baffles meet there is a small leak..i can feel a little bit of air seeping out. The rest of the box seems to be fine. What is something i could use on the outside seams to seal them up nicely? Also, what is a good way to make the subs air tight(where the sub is mounted to the box)? ChevyBoy95
number 1 would be the gasket that come with subs to seal any air leak from the sub cutout or weather stripping, if there is a little gap on one of the sides, just put some caulk or silicon along the inside edge and let it dry and you will be good to go. Supercharged DCs
Silicon works fine for sealing a small leak. And as for sealing the subwoofer, duct tape has been proven effective lol... RooTxBeeR
I would say, make the inside completely sealed and you wont get any air escaping throught he baffle. I also have a question to about my subs, There are a bit of smal leaks where the screwed screw in and holes through the mounting hole. Any way to fix this, with being able to remove the subs and not damage stuff? kam311
X 3 on the wood filler and wood glue! All my corners in the box I'm making right now are sealed with liquid nails and a coat of wood glue over it and tomorrow I'm do the filler! But if I had a leak outside like you I'd probably fill the gap with wood glue, it dries hard and the put wood filler over it and as for the subs, I saw this video on YouTube of Exo, he got some rope caulk (weather stripping but it comes in a roll and it's like a putty) and he wrapped in around the underside of the sub where it mounts, not too much just like 2 strands. And he said he would never install a sub without it after trying it. I got some to try out. Quote so far... Get some of that good yellow wood glue - then collect a cup full of saw dust ( the shredded good saw dust not the clumps ) Mix the two. Smear it on with your finger - Sand it smooth. Blends right in.
