crunkjuice1 Posted August 12, 2011 Report Posted August 12, 2011 the way people make it out to be is what ever ohm load you wire down to,just think your actually a ohm load higher. example I'm wired to 2ohms but my amp only putting out 4ohm load. bummer

Face it, most ppl who do daily systems dont care how much power their amps TRULY are putting out, they only care about it being loud. If being loud means clipping the shit out of their subs a daily driver sure will do that. Now i have a daily setup in my truck since even though it gets very loud and low i dont want to compete with it, i know what my imp rise is and how much power my amps are putting out. The only reason i cared to know my impedance rise is to see if the amps i bought are actually putting out their rated power and they sure do and then some. I also used the impedance rise to ensure that even though i wired my amps strapped to eachother that i wouldnt burn them out. The reason i cared about burning them out is that both of my subwoofer amps are intended to run at a minimum load of .5 each. I have my SMD wired in parallel so it gets .5 ohms resting. If i didnt have impedance rise im sure i would have smoked my amps since i would have .25 ohms of power for each of my subwoofer amps which is dangerous if it drops lower than that. Now the good thing about rise for me is that it makes my final impedance 1.4 ohms i believe is what it came out. I know it was 1 and some odd change ohms that it rose up to. Now because of it i am losing some power that my amps can put out on the bottom end notes but i am getting a ton of power at the higher notes. What i meant is for daily use it really isnt important, mainly people who do competing care about their impedance rise. The reason competitors care about their impedance rise is that impedance rise is similar to kinking a garden hose and trying to water something. Without the kink (no impedance rise) you are getting the maximum flow of water through the hose. Now if you kinked the hose (impedance rise) it would restrict the flow of water thus not letting you get a lot of water (output) from the hose. And for my situation i wanted the most power i possibly could have without burning my amps up so i cared about impedance rise since i wired my sub lower than the amps were made to work at. I actually wanted to have impedance rise so that my amps wouldnt be stressed out from having to work at .25 ohms. For me, impedance rise was good for me to have, to some extent.
