It all depends on what I shoot through it. Almost all my 9mm and wverythjng I load is subsonic. I shot it last night and after the first round pop it was quiet enough without hearing protection I could hear the slide move forward. The ar is a 30 caliber can and I haven not shot it yet. I wasnt expecting it to be as big as it is. lol
