PeterAllen
I plan on getting a RF p400-4 amp. I want to bridge it to 2ch for 200wrms x2 @4 ohm. I want to run just a 6"woofer and super tweeter. they are both seleniums and run 8ohm http://www.ebay.com/itm/SELENIUM-LOUD-SPEAKER-TWO-6-200W-MIDRANGE-WOOFERS-6W4P-/310361290261?pt=Car_Subwoofers_Enclosures&vxp=mtr&hash=item4842f97615 http://www.ebay.com/itm/SELENIUM-TWO-ST-200-140W-SUPER-TWEETERS-SPEAKERS-/280778669997?pt=Car_Speakers&vxp=mtr&hash=item415fb67fad I want to use a 3 way x-over and just run woofer and tweeter ch. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-PAIR-3-WAY-PASSIVE-CROSSOVER-CAR-AUDIO-CRX-303-/360392363056?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e90f0c30 will this make a total of 4ohm resistance at the amp? I want to run this off the front set of RCA outputs from my alpine HU. im running my other coaxs off the alpine ktp445 power pack amp. thanks Edited December 2, 2011 by PeterAllen Quote 99 Ford Ranger Reg Cab h/u- alpine cde 9874 speakers- front type r, rear type s (6x8 coax) amps- alpine ktp-445 (doors), alpine mrx-m100 (sub) sub- Fi Q 12" high QTS and p-chamfer 8awg leads box- sealed ~1.1cu ft box stuffed with polyfil electrical- stock battery, explorer 140amp alt, 4awg throughout

PeterAllen
The HP wont cross high enough for the tweeters. It would be having all freq over 500hz to the tweeter. Unless there is something else to cut those freq? CarAudioFab
You could also determine what resistance the amp is seeing by taking a voltmeter and putting it on the ohm mode. Honestly this is a tool you should invest in if you are going to take this hobby seriously. zxsonnyxz
Wouldn't just adding a woofer and a tweeter make the sound extremely unbalanced? Also that x-over is for 4ohm speaker so the x-over frequencies would be about a full octave off iirc. So unfortunately, no it won't work In addition, a crossover splitting between two 8ohm speakers would still have an 8ohm nominal impedance. MrSkippyJ
why not just get a 2 way crossover? PeterAllen
I think I'm going to get an electronic crossover. Run the 6" through the sub level on the xover with the LPF @400hz then HP it on the amp at 80hz. For the tweeters just set the xover to 5khz HPF. Seems like it'd work in my head... Seems like it'd work in my head... active crossovers require separate amps for each crossover point/"way". it crosses the signal off before it gets to the amplifier. so if you wanted your woofers to play everything below 3khz, the LPF on the crossover would be set to 3khz. the crossover then outputs the signal to the amp so that amp sees every frequency below 3khz. then you'd have to have another amp for your tweeters that sees everything above 3khz. if that makes any sense. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid. MrSkippyJ
so are you are going to run your 6" from 400hz down and your tweets from 5khz and up? Edit: 6" from 400-8 0....
