boom50cal Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Well the luxury definition of a work vehicle, for say a banker manking $100 grand a year: Mercedes E550 4matic. 4 doors, awd, twin turbo v8, option it to around $70 grand. Banker drives it back and forth to work every day for 2 years. Then again, a oilfield consultant down here makes $100 grand a year or more... Thing is they are driving fully loaded 3/4 ton and 1 ton 4x4 Diesel pickups that cost $60-70 grand. Sure the Merc's are nice, but you can't really do anything else with them besides drive them back and forth to work, or take a road trip in them? Not really making you any money back on the investment. Oilfield guys generally get paid for mileage, and take mileage off their taxes every year. Can the little Merc tow a 20k+ load, lets say a 32ft 5th wheel, plus a bassboat, while holding the entire family inside? Not ragging on the merc at all, it's a beautiful car. If ya got the money, spend it. Use of investment is all I'm getting at. Much rather buy a new truck to show off my "success" than a fancy car. But I would sure as fuck LOVE to have a 911 Turbo sitting in my garage right now Edit, location and culture have alot to do with it to. Not trying to come off dickish through this.
