gckless
Hell yeah. Good to see more people using ultracaps. "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand. bigmizzle99
i love how small they are. until you get them you really dont know how much you can cram in there. they fit pretty well in a lot of places. glad you like them nice touch using the active balancing circuits. im sure they will never kick on but it is better to be safe than sorry. in for videos and voltage drop tests!! What are the active balancing circuits? Camaro SS Build Altima build 2.0 Altima build 1.
Wicks
awesome kid... awesome Hell yeah. Good to see more people using ultracaps. Ohh yeah! Wanted to use these for quite a while now. Plus I get to make the know-it-all dipshits look dumb when they say..."Bruh, don't ya know, caps suck and don't work...!". I predicted it haha CAPS FTMFW!!!! Interested in seeing how this goes!! i love how small they are. until you get them you really dont know how much you can cram in there. they fit pretty well in a lot of places. glad you like them nice touch using the active balancing circuits. im sure they will never kick on but it is better to be safe than sorry. in for videos and voltage drop tests!! What are the active balancing circuits? Since the caps need to be wired in series, there is the potential for one of the caps to charge at a higher level then the other caps. You have to divide your charging voltage (mine is 14.9V) over six caps, which gives about 2.48V for each cap. Each cap is only rated to 2.7V so you have to be very careful to not let one of the caps overcharge which could lead to it blowing. The active balancing circuits actively monitor the voltage on each cap and compensate by turning on if the voltage on one gets too high. Another method is passive balancing which is basically just using diodes or resistors to form a resistor divider which locks the caps into a set voltage. SnowDrifter uses passive balancing. Its quick, cheap and easy but will have slightly higher leakage current since the resistors are always working. I guess I'll see how the active balancing works when I start using them more. I haven't had a chance to charge them high enough for them to even turn on yet. Bump4life
In the picture, is it the circuit board looking things on the ends? yes thats active balancing. designed to drain the cap and "turn on" when cap reaches a preset voltage. in this case will draw cap down if exceeds 2.7 volts Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. SlamminBeats
ive never had them drop voltage on me. and if they did i would just use the ctek charger that i used to charge them back up. We connected a bunch of resistors to trick the charger and got the banks ups to 3 volts. it was charged up in less than an hour. just dump the batts. get the money out of them while you still can, you will lose so much weight and gain so much efficiency. my 3 banks hold so much better than my d31s and i play even longer now than i did then just because i can. Caps > batteries.

bigmizzle99
I just googled it...mouser sells them in a kit. N/M I do love it that you guys are exploring this and experimenting...cool shit. There needs to be a sticky for this cap stuff with safety info, charging, discharging, etc and rule of thumb for use...1 bank for 1000 watts, etc Camaro SS Build Altima build 2.0 Altima build 1.
