Guest Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 Its like .9 ohms. And its right behing the wheel well move the ground to the strut tower or directly to frame. sanding paint/ruse off so its shiny. that .9 ohms should be fine
Fosgatefeind Posted May 22, 2012 Author Report Posted May 22, 2012 It is directly on the frame/chassis and its shiny. Buildlog: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/146515-2007-monte-carlo-ls-build-new-plans-with-dc-audio/ TEAM DC AUDIO www.Dcsoundlab.com
Skullz Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 While it may be stable at 1 ohm doesn't mean it likes it, since it is capable of getting the same power at 2 ohms you might want to try and wire it at a higher ohm load and see if it is still getting hot. If you have a pair of subs try wiring one up at a 2 ohm load and see if it is getting really hot or just warm. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
n8ball2013 Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 why do you not have 1/0 to the battery and from there to the amps. Mikey Bates Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 you said stock electrical, even though you have a better battery, whats the volts on it(how bad yours sucking from it) and do you have the big 3????
CleanSierra Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 why do you not have 1/0 to the battery and from there to the amps. I've got my T1000bd run from a single 1/0 in distro and 4 gauge out to the amp itself, along with the T400-4. I'm saying the likely culprit in the OPs situation is a bad grounding location. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
n8ball2013 Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 my point was that it sounds like he has his amp1/0 to the rear and from there it splits. 4 gauge to a battery and 4 gauge to the amp. when it should be 1/0 to the battery and then 4 guage to the amp. That needed to be addressed as its not doing a whole lot of good right now. the distros arent a problem THERE IS NO BUILD LOG! 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab Alpine CDA-9887 4 Team Fi 15s 2 Ampere Audio TFE 8.0 2 Ampere Audio 150.4 3 Digital Designs CS6.5 component sets Dual Mechman 370XP Elite alternators inbound! 8 XS Power d3400 6 XS power d680 Second Skin Stinger Tsunami Wiring Sky High A Real Voltmeter not a piece of shit stinger.
Kyblack76 Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 Im just tossing in my own experiance is all..... We ran the same amp, for just under a year, (at 2ohm, didnt really see a benifit of running it at 1ohm) on a couple of 12's, This was all on stock junk, with 4g to and from. In the Utah and Nevada heat, we would pound the hell outta that amp on road trips for hours, and i mean hours. It was mounted just like the one we have now, behind the rear seats, getting probably close to zero air flow. And that amp would never even get warm. This was also before we even knew this site was even on the web. And that was what sold us to buy another one, from the same maker. Again, just our experiance. I just have to think something is up, or going on there...... SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
Fosgatefeind Posted May 22, 2012 Author Report Posted May 22, 2012 Ok just to clerify I'm running 0/1 to a distro that splits into 2 4 gauge. One goes to amp and one goes to battery. Big 3 is done. I did this before with my dc amp and.it worked but now it doesn't seem to Buildlog: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/146515-2007-monte-carlo-ls-build-new-plans-with-dc-audio/ TEAM DC AUDIO www.Dcsoundlab.com
MrSkippyJ Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 my t1500 gets pretty warm but I called Rockford and they said as long as it isn't shutting off it should be fine. And you really should run the 0g to the battery then split it from there.
