My first show ever was an Iasca even in Marysville, WA at soundwerks was just a 1x points event and I did well with the 8s I came home with first in stock 1-260 wagon should have been in rookie but my ports were not a prefab port they are custom. So that was a bummer but still happy with first in the class i was put into I did a 142.5 at this show.

What is your 4th tuned to now? One thing I have noticed with no wall 4ths is that they tend to peak lower than you really want for numbers, but they sound amazing on music and move a ton of air.

Imo .. Because i built 4 th orders before , but u should turn the subs around and leave middle one the same.. Just a suggestion

If you do this, make sure that you wire the middle sub out of phase so that it will move the same direction as the others and not fight them.

Before scrappin' the idea already, play around with the port, higher tuned might give you gains.

Is it the low numbers the only reason you don't like it, or aren't sure about it? I'm very interested in what you tweak and find out. I'm building a 4th order for my truck blow through and I'm very new to 4th's. Keep up the great work!

it sounds like a 150 plus for sure just meter is disapointing. im looking into a setup that will do well number wise and daily

How much watts are the 8s getting a piece? Also, I'd experiment with reverse mounting them, and having a 15" round flared port.

(just looked earlier) If you are putting 7,000 watts to the 8s then you have something working against you as far as hitting high numbers and that's going to be cabin volume. You have a lot of interior volume that you are trying to "pressurize" in order to hit a high number. There's a few options that can be done to stay in that class, and that's experimenting with a long flared round port, or having larger cone area speakers (understanding that this may move you out of the given class), or swapping the sound into the Civic (smaller interior volume).

The other option is to build a bigger box with all 8s and the port firing upwards, as long as it's under the rear window line. The reason for the bigger box, or a raised box, is to cut down on the given volume of the cargo area so that you only have the space above the box and the cabin seating area to "pressurize" with sound.

Oh, btw with that kind of power you'd be seeing around 155's in a smaller vehicle.

moving my gear to my civic would be pointless as there are too many small cars with bass its easy. I did a 144.9 on 3k with 2 8s so im sure its the 4th order design. Im going to try 2 sundown z v.3 12s they seem to do well for spl

lower tuning is just hard. I was surprised how loud 145 sounds at 35hz, and how quiet 145 sounds at 50hz.

But don't give up on the 8s, or at least put them on the doors and add the 12s to the setup.

But if you go with the 12s alone, I think you'd be losing cone area.

just do the 5 8's in a regular ported box....my 5 sa8 v1's were doing close to a 50 on a sundown 3k, in a daily box
