mikedawg
Whats up everyone, i'm new here and I'm really getting into car audio. Right now I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado that I threw 2 shallow P3 12's in. I really want something louder. I'm not quite ready to do a blow through, so I want my first build to be 4 Sundown SA-8's underneath the rear seat, facing the front. I want two 4" ports, one on each side. I'm extremely new to box building, but I learn very fast. I have a few questions, and I would also really appreciate some pointers & tips. Question #1: Since I want 4 subs with a port on each side of the box, am I going to need to put a center divider in the center of the box, so that I create two chambers, each with two subs and a 4" port? Question #2: The SA-8's recommended box volume is .5-.75 cu. ft. so should I simply take .5 and times it by four, giving me a 2 cu. ft. box volume for the 4 subs? That's all the questions I can think of...for now. Any tips or other help is GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks, Mike
REVOofRustler
I can't really tell you much about dividing the chambers, but since the recommended colume is. 5-.75, it might be better to get around .6 cubic feet per sub, giving you a net volume somewhere around 2.4 to 2.5 cubes. Joe X
Separate chambers result in a bigger box specially if your net volume is low like in your case but not better performance, also you need to post the max dims for your box and the model of your amp for further suggestions, recommended RMS power 2-2.5 KW and electrical upgrades to support. If you want to design yourself there is a recently posted tutorial to do that.
mikedawg
Right now I have a Rockfords Fosgate P1000.1bd so I'm hoping I can just throw another one of those in. Cutout Diameter: 11" Box Volume (Cubic Feet Per Chamber): 0.95 Mounting Depth: 5-3/4" Box Type: Custom Box Color: Black Fit Location: Under Rear Seat Box Finish: Texture Dimensions: Width 51" x Front Height 9-3/4" x Rear Height 7-1/4" x Depth 13-1/2" Material: MDF MDF Thickness: 5/8" I know some of that doesn't matter, but I just copied and pasted off ebay.
