OrenB217
My amp just got back from dbr for a mosfet repair and the back plate seems to rattle violently still, even though they said they used loctite on all the screws. It flexes about 1/8th of an inch, is this something to be concerned about to damage anything? Ive tried alot of methods (stuffed towels in corners of amp, mounted dense rubber on mounts to absorb vibration) and minimized the rattling a little but it still flexes, especially on high notes. attached is a pic on how its mounted. Its mounted on birch wood on back of enclosure, 3 inches away from back of the trunk so im limited on space Edited August 2, 2012 by OrenB217 Quote Black 1998 Nissan Maxima1st Setup: 145.8 DB Outlaw @37 HZ On Music Out Of Trunk2nd Setup: 147.8 DB @42 HZ On Music Out The TrunkCurrent Trunk Build:153.8 DB Outlaw @ 49 HZ Out the trunk (150.8 DB Sealed)Team gg. SnowDrifter
Unbolt the amp, fold over a rag/hand towel a couple times so it fits snugly underneath the amp and reinstall it. Skullz
Never mount rags under amp as that traps and holds heat, get some deadener and put a little on the inside of the cover and that should stop it from rattling. Chris Hammer
Dont mount it on your enclosure..try somewhere a little less violent. bdog
is it mounted to your sub box? Quote REP
SnowDrifter
Just throwing this out there: brace your box more if possible. I usually mount the amp on my box and I try to do it directly over a brace - be it a 2x4 or a section of the slot port. And there is no noticeable amount of vibration coming from my box Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
