Needless to say when I got sprayed I was out doing my PT like normal 15 min after the fact. seems spray doesnt work as well on "my people"! LOL They even tell you that during the training, the lighter your skin tone the worse it will be! Rolex you sicken me. There are times when you have the right to refuse to identify yourself to an officer. I personally would never do it, but that is my choice. I make that choice knowing full well that in certain circumstances I have the right to refuse it. I would hope every cop knows the laws, although I do realize with the massive amount of laws and the crazy amount of changes that are constantly happening, I understand that it is a bit crazy to expect every cop to know them all. I would only expect them to do their best to keep up with them. In this instance, the kid was a douche, but also completely in the right. He totally set the cop up and got it on film. The cop could have handled it way better, even if he was not sure what to do. The ID thing was where the cop messed up. What the cop should have done, after the kid refused, is asked the kid if he could hang around while he contacted his superior officer to find out what to do. The guy would not have been detained, only stayed voluntarily, and I'm sure the superior officer would have given the cop the correct information. This kid probably wouldn't have stayed voluntarily, because that wouldn't make a good video. I do blame this on the kid because he baited it. However, the cop could have done a couple things differently. Granted it only took me about 12mins to decon and others in my course took upwards of 45 mins it was still no fun LOL.... And yes, pertaining to matters such as illegal searches, illegally detaining someone, illegally asking for ID...Yes, the cops do need to know these cases. It about your civil rights.
