What happened to MTX ???

Recommended Posts

MTX is now a brand for retail shops. They are protecting their dealer's retail price and ability to get sales. only way to get them is to pay full retail from a shop or from their site. MTX still makes great products just have limited avenues to purchase. The Thunder Elite amps are nice put very pricey.

if nothing changes, nothing changes

MTX is overpriced, they were selling at Best Buy not sure anymore...

BestBuys partnered with Kicker, Alpine, Polk, Infinity, Scosche, and Metra. They dropped MTX a while ago, and Rockford over the last year or 2. Can still get stuff shipped to the store though..

But from my experience the price went up and quality went down with MTX

we know they are, we are simply stating that back in the day everything was golden, and now with all the other companies releasing great quality products for a reasonable price for what you are getting, MTX under delivers when compared to woofers in the same category and is much more expensive.

In otherwords MTX became out dated really fast, and forgotten about

I know I still have an old MTX 2120, used it for years on 2 MTX Gold 8's bridged @ 4ohm on 10g power wire and gains never set properly (still works). But it is a late 90's model. Right now I doubt I'd buy another MTX amp and others seem to also have that opinion and that's why I started this thread to find out why. That amp will probably end up running speakers in my garage.

I used MTX back in the day. My first pair was in the mid 90's and i believe they were Blue Thunders. I had many many after them. Heres a pic of my little Suzuki hatch I had in the late 90's. The last MTX equipment I used were 4 -8000 10's in my Ram Quad cab and some MTX 801d amps that I sold in 2004.
