I save my batteries, then take them to our local Advance Autoparts. Every once in a while they have a dead battery credit deal, bring in your dead battery and you get $20-$30ish towards a new one. I usually roll up with half a dozen or so at a time and walk away with a new almost free yellow, blue or red top (depends what I'll use it for). Or you can always take it to the scrap yard, most scrap yards pay per pound. I've gotten some decent cash on the big C&D batteries. Tons o lead! And I would say your XS is pretty dead.

It's all gone!

Before I toss it, lets verify its bad. Put the battery on the intellicharger, and after only about a minute goes from orange to green, done. But when I measure it, its onlyy at 12.3. Its done for, right?

Hook it up and leave it on the charger for at least 24 hours and see what it is reading. Then let it set for another 24 hours off the charger and see what it is reading. Then you can take ti to an auto zone, advance, or anywhere like that and they can test it for you.

  • 3 weeks later...

Finally did this. Starting voltage was 12.1v. After 24 hours on the charger, it was at 12.56v. Now, 2 days later its at 12.51v.

Toss it?

EDIT: Haven't taken it for a load test at Autozone, yet. I has no time LOL.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

test it, if it maintains voltage that well it might not be, could be over the hill but not completely useless.

could use it as a test bench battery or a little portable stereo if it maintains 12.5v well enough.
