Possible Solution for Mustang Dual Alt Setup

Recommended Posts

Roots style blower adds the extra pully up top, then bracket a new alt off the side. Plus, roots style will change the stock location of the CAI. May need to do a cowl hood also. You do a roots blower, it changes that upper complete and gives you more direct access to the belt.

But for that price, you might as well buy a car just for a system. Then again, you'd be blowned as well ;)

Sorry man, only other options I can think of and you can see it clears up a ton of room for another bracket.

Well on the Brite side you did wanna go fast ..... But 5 grand... I just popped a Molly I'm sweating... Whew...!!!!!!!

he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:

Instead of using the 6 groove pulley on the inner edge of the belt, use a smooth pulley on the outside of the belt. Just like your idler pulleys and tensioner pulley are set up. You could even get a custom pulley machined with some grooves or treads to avoid belt slippage. With it riding on the outer edge if the belt and facing backwards it would rotate in the correct direction for the cooling system to function properly. Doing it that way the only machining required should just be a custom pulley and mounting bracket. I am unsure of how much belt slip you may encounter though.

Can't u mount up top to the right and get a custom hood. instead make it look like ur car is supercharged under the hood.

I was thinking about a top mount as well with an extended belt. Deff have to do some custom work to the hood. Not sure if it would look right on a civic tho.

Oddball question, and sounds like a bitch to install, but do you have room under the main alt to install a 2nd alt?

Here is a quick Google Sketchup file about what I meant. I think it would be a rather easy solution in comparison to others mentioned and it would go along with your original plan.
