SnowDrifter Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I had a theory... Mic distortion is caused by either the input clipping or the diaphragm moving too much and "topping out." I figured the latter would be the most likely, so I tried plugging in my headphones to my camera's mic in and took a video. And what do you know! ZERO distortion from bass. I know some people like that because the distortion makes it easier to hear what notes are being played, but I thought this was pretty cool. I also noticed significantly reduced sensitivity, but that's to be expected as my headphones have a hole that sound needs to go through, and the diaphragm is much heavier than is one used in a mic. I know, the video quality sucks, but it was too dark to do anything else and this was done purely to show proof of concept, not to take a nice flex video or something. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

CW06Silvy Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Probably something to do with the diaphram size and the weight over a microphone, but thats pretty sweet none the less.. 2006 Silverado Ext.
