nahinder
Hi Guys, I own an BMW e23 1980 and two Kicker L7's 15 inch Right now I got them both mounted on the back of my rear seat, doesn't sound too bad but i figured a box would sound a lot better. So these are the max dimensions of the box i could build hope you guys could help me out building the best box i can fit in the trunk. H: 35 cm / 13.78 inches* W: 80 cm / 31.50 inches* D: 60 cm / 23.62 inches* If the dept gets smaller (around 40 cm) i can get the box higher up to 40 cm 15.75 inches* For the port location is it better to point it into the car ? Cause i already got an hole cut in the middle of the back of the rear seat plate. Thanx for any help. *converted with google.
john253a
Are you willing to cut through the big steal plate between trunk and car Otherwise except some major output loss First think first NOT ENOUGH ROOM FOR 1 Let alone 2 Option 1 Either build it ported for 1 and just except what you get is what u get 2 Sell both and get 2x12" and port them 3 Run them both sealed
Joe X
You can try a wall or you can sell the car and get something larger if you want to use those subs.

john253a
The only other option with out cutting is 4th order through the ski port or rear shelf I did a blow through style box through the ski hole for 2 focal 12 in a 7series and I wouldn't recommend it again Work v's outcome just waserents worth it If you haven't herd of 4th order google it You'll only fit a single 12 may even push a 15" But in your tight area Deaden entire trunk and double check the seat plate is sealed up tight You may even need to seal some spots or glass the area Measure what volume you have and everything you have Make a normal sealed box and port the remainder of the trunk Into the car through the rear shelf Off memory I think you'll get something like 2net sealed and 5net ported This won't be a true 4th but you want have to cut your ride and adjusting the port length and size is easy as I'm running my car the same way(no rear fill) just 2x 8" aeros on rear shelf tuned to approz 120hz And 2 sa8 ported at 32hz I tryed 6" and 8" and different length(trial and error) until I got a nice blend in car
nahinder
Thnx John, Looked at some 4th order boxes but they look too complicated to calculate. If i choose to do a sealed box what would the dimension look like? The standard kicker dimension wouldn't fit

How would you wall 2 15s in this car ? using the rear seat space for the box ? or did you have an other idea ?
john253a
Yes you remove rear seat And that area becomes your box Depending on the volume avaible it will either be window line or higher But this would require it to be built in car
nahinder
I can't do such a drastic cut in this car so that's no option, if i would do a sealed box should i build maximum sized box or do you recommend a different volume ? BTW i wanted to do a big three upgrade but there ain't no cable from the alternator to the positive, but there are cables running from the alternator to the starter engine, and 1 from the starter to the positive. Should i run a cable directly from the alternator to the positive ?
john253a
no need to cut anything to do a wall just remove the rear seat and rear shelf and build the box in the car when your finished cut the box out install the rear seat and shelf if you still have them
