Alpine amps

What's the difference between the Alpine PDX, MRV and MRX series? MRV entry lvl, PDX pro grade?

PDX looks like it has some magic stuff inside. Sexy amp.

Any experience with either 3 series of amps?

I ran several MRV amps in the 90's. They all worked great.

pdx is class D
MRV : class AB

The first pdx amps can be found for cheap. I bought one some years ago for $250(about) on an ebay store. Was happy with my 4 x 100: Small, but get really hot externally.

Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats.

The PDX v2 I have is tiny, has awesome quick release terminals, doesn't get too hot and has some really nice protection built in to address voltage drop but over all is very efficient and sounds very nice. I scored a deal on mine used locally they are pricey new IMO.

So, for the average joe, the MRV and MRX series should be fine for me? PDX has a lot of features I don't think I'd use.

Not impressed with the fact that the PDX only have a switchable 15 and 30hz subsonic filter and not variable like the MRX.

I do like the one sided layout of the PDX's and the quick connectors though.

Why would you want a variable subsonic filter? Educate me.

To be able to set it to more than one of two frequencies.

I have my MRX-M55 set just over 25hz.

I'd have to agree one place the PDX is lacking is the X-over section you get for the price. Its pretty basic.
